not sure on this 1 but maybe you could neatly drill out the screwdriver thread on each screw

theres no point protecting them as they cant be used if they are in your name
but you can always use bolts and loctite them then use chemset (glue for holding steel structures bolts into concre to hold them to your bumper

just let them get nicked and report them asap, you might want to take them off sometime. if theyre personalised, then glue the suckers, do as everyone above has said.

migweld them on making sure you get a full bead all the way around the plate, brace a solid bar around the edge with another bar through the middle. Make sure the numbers/letters are in full view at every angle. Chrome the metal may look great too.
Attach a large capacitor to the battery and ground it to the plate, first person who tries to take it off will never try it again.
Enclose them in clear acrylic embedded in the bumper...now there`s a great way.
I hope I helped

use security screws ( the weird ends you see in those magnetic screw driver sets that you never use)

how often will you be taking the plates off. If rarely, i'd recomment riveting them in, thats what i did to all my cars. Better than paying the $50 or so to get em replaced.
and to whoever said somone else can't use them, its also illegal to 'steal' something, yet they'd be doing that...lol

Sure, the plates cant be used once they are stolen, only problem is you have to fork out the cash for a new set to be pressed.
Try the security screws, but if someone really wants the plates they will only damage the bumper in the process.

lol, 90% of the time your plates are stolen, there just sitting on some 14yo's wall, not going to be used on a car.
