I was invited round lunch with my girlfriends family today which was fun and all, however there is a guy who lives next door who has a built to order 1996 HSV 215i 5.7 V8 Statesman. He showed it to me today, its in absolute mint condition, only done 20,000km, is always covered and not one scratch on it!!! It rumbles like a big cat on steroids, can apparently get from 0-100 in 6.9 sec, which is pretty good considering its almost 2tonnes!!! If I can get some pictures of it the next time i'm at my girlfriends place i'll post them up here. oh yeah, the guy payed $91,000 for it when he bought it in cash, its now worth something like $125,000. HSV said they'd buy it back from him when he wants to sell it.

*randsacks his garage*
I beg the question, why is it worth so much?? Sure its immaculate and not driven much but seems a little high to me. Is there some serious engine mods to it or what??
As i said, its a one of a kind model, no other model like it. Its basically a GTS spec Statesman. Has all the features available in its day inside (leather seats, climate control, leather steering wheel, state of the art sercurity system, sound system, etc etc...)

Im guessing its a Senator as there is no HSV Statesman......unless it was HSV Enhanced...:S.....also Stato's didnt get a stroked 304 so that + the fact its in such good condition would prolly be why its worth a bit.
Its a Statesman body, i couldn't remember what HSV called them...

I dont doubt it is worth a bit, but honestly 125k is a hell of a lot of money. Dunno what your mate was doing with 91k in cash, but can i hit him up for a loan![]()
HSV called their Statesman-bodied models the "Statesman" or "Caprice" with either the "185i" or "215i" engine. There is such a car.
Yeah could be a Caprice, but I doubt its increased in value and the top of the line model was no more than 85 grand. In regards to HSV buying it back from him, I think he is giving ya some shit there mate. HSV would have no interest in something owned by someone else already no matter what mods or stuff they have done with them.![]()
im thinking it might be a Grange....there was one of them in the VS line
The Grange came out with the Series II.
OK i stand corrected there was HSV Stato's/Caprice's and they did have the stroker as an option....i still dont see how it is worth $115k though
This guy is a bit of a tosser too, so it wouldn't surprise me if he is bending the truth slightly, however it is still a really nice car!

I guess that does seem a bit expensive, but if its one of a kind that makes some sense.
There was a walky for sale, still with seats in plastic and very little km's for 75 thousand or more.
I don't understand why it's so expensive either, but as for that Walky... When, where, how, who?
When, last time I saw it was about.. 3-4 months ago on carpoint.com.au
Where, was some dealer in sydney or something. Original as. Some diehard fan is probably happy.
Mmm...nice. But we need pics mate.![]()
If its a 96 then it could be a series II, as the second series started in June of 96.Originally Posted by Commodore

I'm reminded of the WB series Statesman "Magnum", which had the Brock Group 3 running gear (engine, worked auto and diff) in a WB Statesman with stiffer suspension and 15" wheels. No other mods that I'm aware of, but an interesting car that didn't sell in huge numbers. I saw one small note about the "coming new model from Holden" in a Street Machine magazine (I think) back about 1984-ish and I have since seen one twice in our area recently, but it was from down south somewhere. It had a "Magnum" badge on the bootlid, but other than that there's nothing to let you know what is lurking under the hood...a good "Sleeper" car if ever I saw one...
Niiiiiiice. To be honest i wouldn't mind driving one, thats for sure.![]()
Hi all, Magnum here,
I own two of these HDT Brock WB Magnums, one a statesman, one a Ute (one of only three built )
"The most identifiable aspect of these cars if done was the painted body color of the bumper bars and bumperettes and the Magnum Decals. Other tell tale signs was Devilles had the Momo Polaris Wheeels,Areo wheels a option on both Caprice and Deville, Interior had the Momo gritti leather steering wheel and the all important footrest, also they looked great being lower to the ground due to Brock uprated springs and Bilstein shocks. Under bonnet was the Brock engine complete with chrome rocker covers and air cleaner lid on the larger cold air intake, complete with decals. But also quite a few of this car left the Brock factory looking 100% stock on the outside. Unofficial reports from lots of sources say that between 100 and up to 120 of these cars where produced including 3 rare WB Magnum Utes"
Other options where also avalible to these cars from the brock hdt stables
The high output engine (5.6 strocker ), as in my ute, cobra alarm, larger capacity fuel tank 120 litre, full paint treatment ( this had no chrome on car at all ), tinted tail lights, tinted headlight covers, caprice dash fitted to deville models, brock sound system,3.08 lsd diff, blue printed carby, window tinting, electric sunroof, blue printed ignition system, exhaust extractors, plus more i cant think of right now
HDT WB Magnum Caprice Ute
HDT WB Statesman Magnum

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice..................
