Just a question has any one here had any experiance with a mini-spooled diff?
I currently have the option to buy a rebuilt, spooled diff from a VN SS and was after and pros, cons, etc.
Cheers
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
well they are illegal and chew through tyres and hard to turn except in the wet when they do 450deg in stead of 90.
Never late, in a 30..4 lol![]()
u have a death wish if u drive with a minispool in the wet

Hours of fun, but not for the faint hearted/inexperienced and definately not legal. As the boys have said it'll chew out tyres and be very taily in the wet.
Basically it's a cheap traction option
So a mini spool would not be suggested for road use then?
& What do you mean by chew through tyres?
It's arguable, personally I'd say no, they chew tyres because it's effectively 'locking' the diff. You'll know when someones got a spool, it'll be the car that goes slowly around the roundabout chirping and clunking it's way alongThey also like to bend axles, so to run a spool properly you need to strengthen axles which ends up costing more than a LSD centre.
In short, it kills the driveability of a real street car
So id be better off with a LSD diff for street driving?
What would be the price difference of a LSD and a minispool?

im not saying mini spools are better then a lsd but my mates and i have had both an id always stick with a mini spool
and about snapping axles ive only ever seen one guy i knows car snap axles and only because it is pushing a fair bit of hp out and its on nos but every other car ive seen has had no drama's with them
