getting gas to a car that has run out

hi all i have a xf ford out the back witch dosent run on petrol
and it has run dry on gas is there any way of getting gas to the car with out pushing it to the servo ?

if not i will sell it let me know thanks

You 'might' be able to get RAA (or RACQ or whatever your state has) to tow you for free, assuming you have that cover, as every person here should.

There isn't too much you can do. The gas valve inside your tank needs a certain amount of pressure to open to allow the tank to fill, so simply hooking up a bottle to the filler head isn't enough pressure etc...

If I was you, I am with RACV (NRMA in NSW, RACQ in QLD), as part of your membership, you can get 4 free tows/callouts in a year. Maybe it's 5? Take advantage of it and get them to tow your car to the local servo. Or if the car is anyway capable to run petrol, just put a bit in even if it runs a bit rough, you could always go slow. What is the problem about running petrol?

i wouldnt have a clue about why it dosent run on petrol
i got the car given to me running on gas but he said that he has never got it to run on petrol it just dies if it was carby i would drop some down there but its efi and also the car is not in rego anymore and i dont have any insurance
so getting the raa around is unlikly raa is the south aust nrma bacicly

If it has no rego, what's the point of getting it running ? Put some petrol in it and the fuel pump should be able to pressurise the system to get it started. Car trailer is the only way you are going to get gas into it with it not being registed. It think you have to prime the the compressor.

i want to get it running so then i can fix up the car get rego on it so i can drive

if not it would be worth a bit more if the motor runs

Usually if it hasn't run on petrol for ages and it's efi, it would probably be your injectors. After a period of not using petrol, your injectors can get a bit gummed up and require cleaning. Fuel pumps usually don't fail but it's another option to look at but unlikely.

You could try asking some wreckers if they are interested in your XF but they probably won't give you much.

i know when i have my one tonner, if you call the taxi company some have a device in the back of a main taxi and they get called out to help out the guys who are out of gas. Last time i did it it was in sydney and it cost the taxi fair (from depo) and 10 bucks of gas. Easy, other than that get ya mates to help rig up a drip system with a small container of fuel if you know how to. Lastly you could just burn the f***ing thing while having a few drinks and turn it into a BBQ!!!! Good luck m8
