When I worked in dealerships we used graphite powder because road dirt would not stick to it and form a sludge. The best job is to take the runners out and clean them with soapy water then thoroughly dry. Refit and use graphite powder if the glass is still stiff to move up and down without the winder connected. If the vehicle is old it might be worth simply replacing the runners.
