Default air intake ionizer. ever heard of them?

friend of mine just told me that he got an air intake ionizer on his VT. supposed to improve acceleration. cost him $350. i cannot find info about these anywhere and it sounds like some BS ebay mod. anyone heard of them?

They saw him coming, didn't they? It'd be good if you could get some before & after dyno numbers. Generally speaking, anything that goes into your intake will be an obstruction.

yeah thats what i would think. what more can you do to the air other than push it in faster? its supposed to "make the air richer" but that just sounds like crap

I might be wrong, but it sounds a bit like those devices that polarise the atoms in fuel. If you're that desperate to get rid of your cash, send it to me. I'll send you something you can block your intake with...

But seriously, if you want more power, $350 goes a fair way towards buying a cam or diff gears or something else which will make a difference.

Mate have a read of this site:

http://www.fuelsaving.info/debunk.htm

He's a engineer who speaks the truth about all these clip on mods.

He even details the magnets they put around your air intake:

http://www.fuelsaving.info/magnets.htm

Your mate has been ripped off and now has a rather expensive fridge magnet.

From the site:

"Most "fuel saving devices" fit this pattern:

About a 10 - 15% claimed fuel saving (gas saving / gas mileage improvement)
Claimed reduced emissions
Claimed improved performance
Cost about £50 (80 US$) (so costs about £5 to make!) "

This isnt saying that I have tried it and it doesnt work. Just fits the typical clip on 'mod' that does nothing except lighten the load on your wallet.
