Default Transmission Pan Magnet

I'm in the middle of servicing the ole tranny.. I've bought a new filter and gasket..

I forgot about the magnet.. Is it important to change the magnet?

It's all gooey and not hard.. Urgh.. I'd like everyone to pitch in with an answer, please..

I'm desperate..

Edit: I've dropped the pan and I'm looking at it now.. In pure desperation..

I actually thought the magnet was built into the filter.

Just pick the magnet out and clean it with a rag thoroughly then return it to the indent in the pan where it goes. Its just doing its job of collecting the fine metal particles that go through the oil. Shows how long since you changed your tranny fluid then if its all furry. LOL
