Some commodore questions for all you nuts
Hey im gonna sound like a complete idiot but thats why im asking questions and not giving advice.
Some of the reasons for these questions is because im thinking of maybe doing some of these things or are just curious.
1. Why dont people pay a lot less for a vt, say 10 grand and spend roughly 4 grand on wheels and a paint job like the 03/04/05 model commodores.
2. What usually changes from acclaim to executive etc.
3. What would i have to do to a vt or what commodore could i buy standard that would beat a 03 XR6 other than a SS.
4. Im thinking of getting a vt with good wheels and stereo then getting a paint job like the new model commodores, but i dont really like the stock fronts or backs, what could i replace them with and roughly how much would it cost.
5. Whats so different between the vt/vy/vx.

2- acclaim has more safety features then a executive (making car weigh more)
3- fair bit of work to beat xr6 ( http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au...F&key=FORD03BC)

Depends on what u want - if ur talking body kit it can vary from $800 and up. If ur talking other mods then altezza tail lights go for around $200 on ebay and you could pick up a monaro bonnet for around $1000 (give or take)
For a good paint job you'll be looking at atleast $3000 but obviously u can get it done alot cheaper - be careful, a mate of mine got his alfa done for $1500 a year ago and now you can stick ur hand behind where it has cracked and peeled away from the car...

Ahhh ****, this stuff costs an arm an a leg.
Im thinking just look through the trado for a cheap vt with not bad wheels on it and stereo then spend 2 grand on a paint job like the newer cars.
Im pretty sure a car with expensive wheels affects the price a fair bit, so would a awesome paint job do the same? Im just wondering for re-sale values sake.
What im trying to do here is get a vt that i can make look just as sick as the newer model commos without spending 20 grand and maybe make it go a bit faster if i could.
What could i do to add another 30kw's of power to a vt?

extractors and exhaust system (the others on here will know what exact system would be best, size wise) but i'd say something like 2.5 inch exhaust system. cold air intake and pod filter (some people claim they do notice slightly better performance with the cold air intake and pod filter. some ppl say it's a waste of money). they're are few things you could do.

If your modding the car for resale value, your in the wrong game. Run now, while you still have your money....RUN!

Nothing beats a new car. I've been hit hard with depreciation, but hey - at least I know the FULL history of my car. I didn't want to buy anyone else's problems.

Google for "Unofficial Holden Commodore Archive" You'll find what you want there.

A supercharger should see you right, provided you're not talking XR6 Turbo. To beat one of them you'll need two more cylinders.

The VT1 was a good car for it's time. They are starting to get old now and are starting to get a bit loose in the body. If you have the choice, spend the extra and get a VTII or VX even if it means getting wheels with a little less bling.

A supercharged S should do the trick.

As I said above - get a VTII or VX and then trot down to your holden dealer and buy some mags that they have in the parts section. They are usually around $1600 including tyres for a set that are as good as new.
