Classic aussie motorsport on ABC2 late nights

Hey all I just f#ckin love it aye, if you've got ABC2 its highly recommended, I saw the 1988 sandown 500 with the debut of the walky and it finished 2nd. Its not always motorsport tho but last week was all motorsport from old australian GP's and rounds of the ATCC from the 60's 70's and 80's. Man I just can't get enough, it starts sometime after 10:30 and runs till around 1am ish

Been some awesome stuff on it the past few months. 1959 Bathurst 100. 196? Tasman running then current F1 cars, Improved production and touring cars form the late 60's early 70's. These guys were drifting before it was a sport. Did you see the race the other night where the Phase 2 was smoking out of the bridge corner every lap. The F5000 cars are awesome.
The 1988 sandown was in the last golden age of touring cars. There was real competition between makes and teams then. The cars were based on the road cars with only modifications allowed.

Todays V8 Super cars are boring. The only resemblance the running gear has to the original is the badge and thats disputable. To many rules to keep them detuned. Parity regulations in any racing suck! Great for Sponsors and a great test of drivers skill but the reason I like Motor sport is the machines not the drivers. I would love to see Motor sport not Driver comp.

Yeah I saw one held a warrick farm and allan moffet won in his trans am mustang, but the xy gtho was keeping up with him but allan moffet was too good a driver on the day.
Yeah F5000 is damn good too, loves the V8 roar in a little f1 style body mmmmmmmm

I couldn't agree with you more Daza. Some of those races bore me s**tless! It's like groundhog day! Sadly i'm a bit of a Ford supporter now just because i'm so bloody sick of seeing these Holden/Chev/Whatever winning all the time!

Are you sure you are watching the right channel.....holden winning all the time?
We havent won a championship for 3 years and the current one is dominated by ford teams ...the only thing they cant crack yet is Bathurst.
All this shit about it being boring what do you want a smashup derby?
The drivers are doing what they get paid for and they are doing it well and its definately not boring......its the most popular form of motorsport in this country.
If we chucked stocko cars in thr race noone would finish and it would be run at a snails pace compared to the v8 supercars...how boring would that be......we want high speed but safety comes into it and we gotta make it fast and safe ,fair and still please everyone.
