Hi guys
I have a 3.8 ecotec v6 in my vt commodore and wish to make it a bit more louder or deeper.
I have installed a cat back red back system with the removal of the rear muff, however is it possible to improve the sound even more?.
Is there any thing you can stick in the exhaust system or change anything on the engine.
ps: is there anythng you can do to the engine to make it go better with out spending money ie:changing settings ect.
id say get extractors. theres not much you can do without spending money though
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
Unfortunately with cars its all about the dollar............. Chuck on a pod filter or open up you air box for a louder induction sound............(Thats all its going to do is louder induction, you won't gain bugger all performance)
other than that, bigger cam or extractors but all big bucks...

take the exhaust off. should be louder.

and cheap to do, could even sell your old exhaust, make some $$$![]()
drill some holes in mufflers?
a camshaft change will improve the lumpyness and even get your head ported will improve noise and preformance
the best exhaust i have ever remebered was my twin 2" system all the way through with headers, twin cats with ALL mufflers. wasnt too noisy, wasnt tinny like the standard V6. its was perfect, sounded grunty as well unlike standard exhaust.
if i ever get another exhaust i will be getting exactly the same thing.
How does it sound in comparison to this thread?
Curious about what difference there is between different brands of muffler.
* Phreddy's Blaupunkt Aux input and line out mod
* 18x8 inch Equus Kalibur Wheels with Maxxis MAV-1 235/40R18
* Sureflo 3.5 inch medium-loud cat back exhaust
What car was this on mate? did you lose much bottom end?Originally Posted by TheIceman
Done a quick calculator job.. twin 2 inch loses way more than 2.5"... but i'm looking for something different... but i don't want to lose low end either. Around 1.75" dual looks like it should be right on the money for flow but doubt it's a standard size = big$.
