Firstly, I see plenty of remote images (ie i think photobucket will be fine). Also, I cant really see any major design flaws! lots of eye catching images, text flows well, I'd stick with it I think!
Hi everyone,
a few months ago a wrecker who is a friend of mine contacted me about listing some of their parts on ebay. Me being a poor uni student i happily abliged, it was easy enough and good for some extra cash and car parts on the side.
Anyway, since then I've listed about 10 or so different parts for them, all using the same page design. I don't really like this design tho as i feel its too cluttered, however i'm stuck for ideas on how to improve it. Here's a link to one of the current ads i got up (please don't think i'm advertising because its not my company, I just want feedback on my web page layout and how it could be improved).
Ebay ad 1
Also, does anyone know if ebay get snappy about linking to pics i've uploaded on a photobucket account (seeing as they charge moneys to add photos to the ad)?
Cheers for your feedback

i'm thinking that theres too much text however. The problem is i need to advertise the item, but i also need to show the buyer that they are a legit business, to make them more comfortable in the sale. Hence the big spiel at the end of the ad.
I dunno, i think i need something to separate the ad from the company spiel.. maybe split it into tables or something.
Cheers for the feedback.
tables always work well.
There isn't much you can do, just fiddle with it till you're happy, maybe have 2 or 3 columns like a newspaper for the text?
ah, dont do the newspaper thing, that would shit me off
Is there a way to put the pictures ontop of the business details section? Also, minimise the changing of colours IMO. Stick to 2, one for headings, one for information. Also, don't center justify everything. It breaks up the text too much. Just my opinion though (I'm not very artistic).
If you need any help let me know and I'll do what I can.
How much he want for the LS1 next to the seats out of interst?
Sorry thats the only thing that caught my eye!
good idea putting the pictures in between, i think i'll try that next time. Also I think you're right about the colours too. I think I'll revamp the whole thing before I head in there next time using this pc. The problem was they dont have any decent web page making programs on their computers, so I had to use html there and I was too lazy to work on it at home!
ssute i can find out what they want for the ls1 if you like also
Ok i edited the template for it, i would put it up it for all to see but this board doesn't allow html files to be uploaded. Anyway I got rid of the colours and just stuck with red for titles and important bits and black for the rest. I also justified a lot of the text so its not all centred. I put the pictures of the item in between the ad and the business spiel. To make sure people saw them, I moved the MTA, capricorn and hotline 40 logos under the main logo right up the top (gives a sense of legit-ness i feel!). Finally right down the bottom I put this little number that i ripped off of their website:
Makes it look pretty cool i reckon (apart from the cars wierdly molding into eachother?)
Cheers for your help everyone! Next time I use the template I'll put a link to it in here.
Sounds good, when its updated let us know I'll check it out again.
This is an example of one of my listings: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JB-Camira-Ser...QQcmdZViewItem
The disclaimers and policies aren't there because I want to, they're there because some people on eBay are ****ing ****bites and don't understand..
The other day someone with 0 feedback who registered in 2001 won one of my items with buy-it-now, then told me they want postage to be $2.00. It would have cost $4.65 (postage) plus a $1.00 padded bag, I told them this and they told me they didn't want to continue with the transaction. I reminded them that they should have asked about postage before bidding and lectured them on ethics and how I would report them to eBay, then they send me an email saying they're going to send a cheque for the full amount. I specificly said this (in bold and underlined) in the email I sent them originally that I do NOT accept bank cheques.
I hate eBay members sometimes, and eBay even more!
$250 to send those seat's...your joking right? I use toll express and it cost's me about $50 to send soemthing that large to qld, nsw, and vic...
dang, we will charge you $100 to throw it on one of our truck's for overnight delivery to melbourne or sydney lol
For your template.. well you say you're Just Commodore spares, yet your first picture had a Clubsport and second one a Monaro, both of which aren't legally classed as Commodores.. and you're selling clubsport seatsMaybe you should be called Not Just Commodore Spares
Off Topic:hey minux ive got a VQ garnish (just the garnish no boot lid) how much would it cost to get it sent to melbourn from geelong?
P.S the site looks mad dude. everything is set out perfect and is easy to read using different size fonts. the colour...hmm lets talk bout colours. youv used a visually dominate colour to start off which is red but you moved into softer colours like blue and green which can be missed becoz they arnt dominate. with the important info like brand size etc try and stick with colours that really slap you in the face like red yellow etc less important things like price try and stick with green and blue so they miss it!!
Jec's, where in melbourne? pm me
whoa thanks for all the feedback guys!
juzza - your layout is extremely well done, very easy to read. I like it! The name of the business is just commodore spares as they originally started however many years ago wrecking only commodores. This progressed onto HSVs, statesmans, monaros and the like as they are all similar and share similar parts. However they also wreck calibras, astras and vectras... i'll leave that to someone else to figure out!
minux - we set the postage at $250 coz we were unsure how much it would cost to all parts of Australia, hence the 'postage will be maximum $250'. Cheers for the feedback tho!
jecs - i think you're right about the colours. I've changed the template to include less colours now, red for important info and black for the rest. Shall see how it goes...
Cheers everyone
