    Default how's this!!!

Well coming home today i passed to police guys on trail bikes that had pulled some guy over, i look at them as i drive past and one jumps on his bike and follows me for a bit then flags me over...
"How are you sir" i say
"How long have you had those red parking lights?"says he
    "mmmm about a week"
"they are illegal why do you have them"
"i saw a few other cars with them so i decided i wanted some"
"how many cars have you seen with them?"
    "a couple"
"and how many cars do you think are in NSW?"
"i dont know close to 1 million"
"yeah a couple of hundred thousand" walks to the front of the ute then comes back. "wheres your p plate?"
    "on the car"
    "where abouts?"
    "on the front"
    "where abouts on the front?"
"on the front of the car..." I walk around to check and find i am missing 1 p plate as the rear one is still there. "ohh, must have fallen off i guess"
"was it on there when you got in?"
    "i guess so"
"where have you just come from?"
    "the motocross track"
"was it on there when you left"
    "i presume it was"
"well you should always check to see that you plates are on there because some people steal them and they can fall off"
"well i got a spare on in the glove box, ill just wack that on then"
Starts writing down my details and the other guy on the bike arrives "this guy has red parkers, if you catch him with them on book him"
Ask's about my details and tells me that he is going to let me off for the lights, but is going to give me an infringment for not have a p plate on.

I then question this saying that "how was i to know it wasnt on there, it may very well have blown off between then and now" then he didnt have an answer for that and said that i will have the letter in a week or so.

now i find this to be very stupid, and a very crappy law.....$75 and 2 points.......now may i ask whos life i was endangering by not having a p plate. and who checks there car to make sure their p plates are on there, im not going to check every time i get in for gods sake.

but however i always drive with only the rear one on, cos this means i can drive 100kmh and i look like a normal car. and the red lights have been in there for hmmmmmm about 18months. so i got my karma i guess.......but still the 1 p plate is a joke of an offence

And thats why l drive with the ones that go onto your windows, u know the semi tansperent ones? I think they are a tad illegal though.

So you replaced your parkers with red globes?

you are now allowed to have your Ps displayed in the window. I'd be writing a letter to the infringment Processing Beuro (address is on the notice) accompianing yourpayment... explain that it was your front plate, and that it was there when you left & upon being notified by police it wasnt there, immediatly put a replacement on, also point out that it is your first offence (if it is).

As for red parkers... sorry, they are illegal - they figure that people could mistake them for tail lights of the car infront - i know they are only parkers, but that's what i've been told.

You know the law and you broke it, then proceeded to lie to the copper about it.

Cop it sweet - laws aren't just there to annoy you. They do have a purpose.

Do the crime, do the time.

gees, your to the point on that one.

In my area, cops target p platers and oftern pull me and my mates over, even though we are driving casually. Not only that but they are really stiff with the law aswell. One mate has had the same infringment (not having a p plate on the front) while others have been done for stupid things like braking to hard (which was to avoid another car which was turning into a driveway) and lights on the washers, leds in the headlights, not to mention speeding fines, which l understand, but a warning could be given if they haven't been caught before.

Yeah l can see how the cops are doing their job and are protecting the people, its just some are on power trips or something and like to abuse their power.

Red or Blue because you could get them confused with Emergency Service Vehicles.

I was talking to a copper at the motor show in Brisbane about the different coloured fog lights i'd seen getting around on some of the Commodores- he told me that only white yellow and orange lights are to be fitted to the front of a car! But that is in QLD - i don't know about NSW!!!

And as Bextor said blue and red are not allowed due to getting them confused with Emergency Service Vehicles.

yeah but the thing is they are not that easy to see...i will have to take a picture, they are like a "did that car that just went past me have red lights, i couldnt really see" type of thing. And as for lying to the police officer, how would he know if ive had them on longer then that? the amount of cops that i have driven past with them on have never done anything about it, for the fact that they either couldnt see them or its not worth their time for such a minner thing. But if they were out on a revinue rasing mission the that would be another case. i dont think im going to endanger lives for not having 1 plate on, could any other road user care, i dont think it is going to effect anyone except the police, and it is an over the top fine to be delt out, far enough if you get a fine, but demerate points, come on, these are meant to be delt out to people who drive in a dangerous manner, eg speeding or neg driving. And yes i have been done for speeding b4 so i can justify points being lost for that, and also because of that i dont think there would be any point writing a letter away...they get my letter "hmm this guy has lost his licence for 6 months b4....bwhahahah as if what an idiot".

Red parkers? Were you driving around with just your parkers on, or is the red so bright that you can see it with the headlights on?

yea, but rules are rules... thats just the way it is. you cant walk into a shop, shove something in your pocket and say that it 'just fell in there' whenyou get busted. you got caught, pay the fine and stick to the rules.

i got pulled up at a random license and rego check, i didnt have my license with me cause I'm on P's, the cop could have been really tight about it and slapped me with a fine, but he gave me a warning and let me go.
Not all cops are tight, but the cops on chapel street are the worst, i see them canary some fuggn nice cars. There was this one Vk got canary'd, it looked really nice, and i doubt there was anything illegal about it, just a few bonnet gauges

sure rules are rules and you have to follow them, but your abbiding by the rules if u hop in your car knowing that you have BOTH plates on and at 90 or 100 kph you have prety much no control on the airodynamics of your car and if the plates fly off, well shit happens

Cops have a thing in our town with targeting p platers and practicaly doing a striping search on the car. i think its wrong to search a car without a lagitimate reason, 3 times ive been in a car where we've had to all hop out and stand at the back of the car. The longer it takes to find something illigal the harder they look and the madder they get
