the main thing that got the commy over the falcon was the first gear,,other then that the falcon would crap on a commy

yeah mainly the auto's,,not sure about the 5 speeds,,i think they were basicly the same,the falcon i6 has more tourque than the v6.

Ford have always had a bigger motor since the 4.1 came out all those many years ago. Larger engine = more torque and possibly more power, its the old theory of hot rodders (put a bigger engine in it). I agree that the 4 spd auto in the later falcons is not very good. I smoked 2 AU xr6's in one week about a month ago (up to 80 km/h) I had a car length on them by that point but they reeled me in after that. My VL is stock with a full exhaust system and is auto and those AU's were both revving their tits off in first but my better 1st and 2nd gears got me ahead. I have been in a brand new EA s pack 5 speed when I was younger man did that thing fly.

I'm sure 5 speed AU's would smoke me easily tho.
