EA-BA all had inline (straight) 6's..Originally Posted by _A_D_A_M_

thought so, i liked their 6's for being quiet on the open road which is fine untill you want to Drive in which i'd rather play with a roaring lion ^_^ but back on topic yeah i dont think Falcons EVER had a v6....

Driving a CURSED WH V6.
Indeed the BF is the new model, but TBH I can't tell the difference.. It's the exact same car as the BA (probably a few minor changes)..
Sounds like you just lost money.. Sorry mate..
Too true.... but then... VY-VZ isn't that different either (ok so it is under the bonnet, but outside..)..

no falcon has ever had a v6. they were talking of puting the cougar v6 into the BA but went inline turbo instead.
why did you have $20 on it? what did you think they had?

yea he goes for ford and doesnt know the basics
Adam
so why doesnt ford use a v6 engine![]()
arent they better on fuel
Adam
They've always used the I6, now with the 6sp auto it's actually very fuel efficient.Originally Posted by _A_D_A_M_
The I6 is still developed in this country (down in Geelong) and will be there for a few more years as Ford got a government grant to get the car to Euro 4emmision standards (Holden didn't get the same grant). The I6 is considered to be a better balanced engine and seems (from experience) a smoother engine when accelerating.
Remember BMW dont have a V6 but they also believe FWD is evil!!
Ford does have V6's courier and escape.
thanks everyone![]()
he better pay

The Ford Capri (the old Pommy ones with the long nose) came out with a 3-liter V6...they went like the clappers and were a truly great car...like most English sports cars, they relied on great handling more than outright power, but in the lightweight Capri, they really flew...however, you'd better like rebuilding engines, especially swapping main bearings...they were, if I remember right, basically a 302 V8 minus two cylinders. You couldn't really call them a reliable motor...![]()
But they were never in Falcons, full stop.
I often wonder how a nicely-set up light-weight Capri would go with a standard Ecotec and five speed in it...![]()

an inline 6 will always be smoother...in theory... they're the only (common) arrangement that should (lol yes, should) be pretty much perfectly smooth whilst running. in reality, that'll never happen, but it gives it a big advantage over a V6 anyway. as for one having better fuel economy than the other, that can't be proven, and in respect to the Holden V6 and the Ford S6, the Ford would win out anyway, because they have very similar economy even though the Ford's is larger capacity.
Don't hit kids. No seriously, they have guns now
Ford V6:
Capri - From the Pommy Zephyr (9.5 0-100 and 16.8 0 - 400m are not great performance figures but were decent at the time)
Taurus - American Mazda sourced
Telstar - Mazda
Escape - Mazda
Courier - Mazda
I don't think ford have ever made a V6. Cougar and Probe (limited sales here) also used a Mazda sourced motor.
The perfect configuration for smoothness is supposedly a straight motor with five cylinders. At least that's what Volvo and Audi claimed.
Never

The VX and VY Ecotec was quite a bit better on fuel was it not?Originally Posted by Evman

I think Ford is around the 13's or more?
The Ford straight 6's have always been a very powerful engine. But have never quite matched holden not because of lack of power but they were heavier (i dont know how much heavier) this is also around the XF and EB series. But now with the 6spd autos in the BF their pretty damn quick now.
I know all this because my dad has always been a Ford man and he drives the new BF Falcon.
my mate has a ford xc. and the damn thing wont blow:b:
its one strong motor
