Just wondering if you need some sort of HSV owners ID to buy some HSV parts from a dealer? Anyone know?

Yeah, VIN required, depending on who you know, the easiest way is to get one though, if you know someone with one, get them to get it if you worried

That sux. I reckon there should be some more strict guidelines in place. A proper ID card or something. How else are they supposed to protect the HSV brand? These poor b@rst@rds go and spend a fortune on a genuine HSV, only to have people trying to imitate their cars by bolting HSV bits on. To most of us here, we can still tell if it's a genuine HSV or not, but to the untrained eye, it's easy to make a Commy look like a HSV, and that's not real fair. No wonder some people bag out HSV's and say "it's still just a Commodore".
At the risk of getting flamed again (I've had a whinge about this a few times before) the same thing applies to SS's. I'm sick of people buying cheap executives and bolting SS bit on them. Some of them look almost the same as an SS (again, I can still tell the difference) which is not real fair when I went and forked out the $ to buy the real deal brand new.
Anyway, that's my rant for the day...... aaaaah that's better!....

THey do to me.
I can understand how an HSV owner would get ****ed off if some guy in a Commo buys genuine HSV bits and makes his Commo 6 look exactly like an HSV.
I've seen Commo 6's with SS badges plastered on them, ****es me off..
BTW, I'm not talking about a CAI. More badges, kit, etc.

Like I said, many will disagree and want to use the HSV bits - so go ahead knock yourselves out.
What I'm saying is that some of us think it's wrong, which is the reason why HSV have the vin number id system in the first place. It's just not a very good system and an easy one to rort...

You have chev badges on a Commo, you dont get to comment
Dont see many cars badged up as what they are not. Alot have the HSV/SS kits, which as long as they are not badged as I have no problem with.

Firstly, the Chev badges don't make you think I drive a Chevrolet. Everyone knows it's a Commodore..
Well, I specifically mentioned cars with deceptive badges that I do have a problem with. I saw a VY Commo with Commodore badges and SS badges on the same car. SS badges were crooked..
I personally do have a problem with HSV kits, but that's a matter of opinion..

Now just look at it this way for a second, I belive if memory serves me that you added the chev badges because you liked the look of them and at the time didnt really understand the significance of them. Correct?
What if its the same as that VY? Maybe the owner just likes the look of the SS badges not really knowing what they are................
Just something to think about..............

I have no doubts in my mind the badging was spurious.. Although I'll probably never know for sure..
