Unhappy Stupid Driveways and Stupid Gutters

My car seems to have developed a crush on driveways and gutters and wants to kiss them all the time.
Bf is in a nice mood and is making me a sensor that will go off when things get too close, but until then whats your advice?

I go mega slow and on an angle but ive hit it twice in a week and had to handbrake reverse automatic car once as well cause i only just missed majorly driving front first into the ground (at apple/next byte on glen osmond road for adelaide peoples their driveway is terrible).

Have you only just bought or started to drive your Commodore? When I first got mine, I was used to a smaller car, so I'd always get too close to the gutters and scratch the rims. Needless to say, I was ropable! It's all good now that I'm used to it though.

lol, maybe you should get some of those gutter scrapers that grandpa's have on their cars. You know the ones, they're a long, thin bit of steel on a spring mounted next to the wheel arch and stick out so they hit the gutter before your wheels and the noise tells you you're too close. They're so daggy though...

Owch...haven't had that problem yet, but since we moved up to the VX from the VS, I've noticed that you have to be a bit careful with the front guards, given the way the wheel arch flares out quite wide and you can't see it from inside the car, mostly on the passenger side.
I've seen numerous VT-VZ Commodores around with scrapes on the top of the bulging wheel arch...probably partly the councils fault for allowing places to paint thier carparks so damn narrow nowadays to fit more cars in...

    Join the club.

Everytime I park, next too the gutter, I always park atleast 20-30cm away from it, because I always get worried, that I'm going too hit the gutter and I really don't feel like finding a replacement 18 inch VY SS mag.

You'd wanna be careful parking TOO far from the gutter (especially on narrow streets) or you might be looking for a replacement driver's mirror!

lol it seems like some of you need to learn the width of your car, just feel for the change in the road (basicially where the road and kerb meet) gets it spot on everytime, other then that i spose you just gotta have a nack for it.

Ummm did all you people not read her post properly?

Its not the wheels and gutter rash...

Its the bodykit scraping in dips...

I got used to it in my car before I had the kit, it used to be the exhaust that scraped everywhere although I once grounded the car in a dip and had to have 4 people lifting the rear while I reversed to get out the driveway...

But go into driveways etc. on mega angles... Simply dont go near dips and driveways you dont think you can get through... My car sits at 108mm on the sideskirts which is legal, but some humps are larger than that so be careful of some shoping centres etc. as well
