Well thats the thing...they couldn't exactly show the engine being flogged in the VZ now could they...although channel 7 is showing footage of the SV6.
I admit the ads pretty crap, but it wouldn't be easy without having a car to put it in

Well judging by the way the guy was acting I'd say it was supposed to be kind of silly and make people go "oh cool!" and also laugh at how much the guy was enjoying himself.

I think holdens ad, even fords ad ("must be stuck in 3rd"), is very reflective of australian humour. We have that dry laconic sense of humour which is very significant of australia. I mean, this can be seen in any australia film (mullet anyone?). l think Holden used the Australian humour technique to make the ad more familiar to us.
