Default Service Prices

Not long bought my VX Series 2.

Its running a bit rough and theres a noise in the engine which i reckon will be fixed with some new oil.

I've never paid for a service before (had a gemini before this) How much am i looking at paying for a basic service and maybe one to change the filters etc.

It hasnt had one since about 95k

How many k's are on it now?

Standard 10k interval should be 100-200 for a newish car, although some specific km zones cost more ie 60k, 120k etc. Depends on a lot though

personally i wouldnt get a dealer to service my car (anymore) after the shocking experience i had with them last time. 15 damn dollars to replace a rear numberplate light bulb... you gotta be crapping me!!! check out the fuel smell? yea right... they didnt even bother but i was told they did and couldnt find anything... but when i drove it off the lot i could still smell it..

go private (mechanic/not a dealer) if you can, some are cheaper, some cost more but generally the service is better and they will look after you to get repeat buisiness from you.

Haha my family's cars have all gone to the same little mechanic place for 23 years - ever since Mum bought a VC (which we kept until 2002).
Thanks to us they have since serviced 3 VSs, 7 VTs, 1 VX, 1 VP, 1 Hilux, 1 MG, and 1 Mazda. They are excellent, find everything, charge for most of it, and charge bugger all for labour
We busted our local Holden dealer replacing near new parts with even OLDER ones and charging through the roof for the privilege
