Just wondering if anyone has bought a car from them? Are they any good? Worth a visit? They are willing to give me a good trade in for my VN![]()
If you're desperate for a cheap late model car with 300,000-500,000kms on it then go for it.
is all cars like that im interested in looking at one of those places sometime. do they really give as gooda trade ins as they say they do?Originally Posted by KingDiamond
Cars are OK quality from what I have seen .. A friend of mine (who was pretty young) was talked into signing some papers and taking a car for the weekend as a test drive so he could speak with his parents about the car... Turns out it was a purchase agreement that he signed ... Was over 7 years ago, when there was not too much legislation around for dodgy dealings like that.. But always sticks in my mind...
Yes it will be very hard to get rid of the VN but I need to get a car with some safety features ha ha! Seem like they jack up the prices to make up for the big trade in. I'm looking for a VY at the moment, cheapest one they have is an executive with lots of k's for 14k, cheapest berlina is 18k. Seen better prices in holden dealers!
I can't believe they would get away with that, well at least your friend would have learned a very valuable lesson that day!
Here in Adelaide they are sellin off VZ commodores for $17,990, so perhaps its the same where you are?Originally Posted by paddyj
At that price for VZ, a high km VY should be goin a fair bit cheaper. But 14k is still decent imo
try auctions, you can find vy's with as little as 10k up to 150k on the clock for around 12-20 thousand, you can also find vy berlinas and exec vz's around 16 thousand and up
Saw a VY executive the other day in the gong for 14K, only had 40k on the clock, was spotless. Also there was another one in the fixed price section on fowles.com.au for 12,600, can't remember how many k's. Not upgrading till Jan next year so have loads of time, just trying to scope out the market.
Good idea... keep looking around. I got VY Acclaim last week. It is beautiful. its an 02 model, with an SS bodykit, lowered and 18" GTS wheels. Its only done 56,000km, and I got the whole thing for $15,500. Thats a mad price, coz I had a budget of $20,000, so the rest of the money will be spent on mods. I also put in a grand for the sound system, which is now full Clarion, and therefore awesome!![]()
The truth about Australian Fleet Sales and their "great trade in prices", is they only offer you a great trade in if you take out their finance to buy the new car. I called them last year to enquire about my fiance trading in her old Pulsar Reebok. They were more than excited to give her $4000 trade in even though it was stuffed. Then when I said we'd didn't want their finance and would pay cash they quickly became very rude and more or less hung up on me. The interest rate on their finance is rediculous. That why they can sell the cars at a reasonable price. You'll end up paying thousands more just in interest.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
$15,500 is a great price, what state are you in?
I knew there was some catch with the massive trade ins!
I will NEVER buy another car from Australian Fleet Sales. I brought a Ford Falcon XR6 (yes I know, such a stupid thing to do but I've learnt my lesson) from them. After I purchased the car I got my local mechanic to give it a good look over. Some of the problems were:
Leaking steering rack
Worn rear shock mounts
Problems starting when warm
and a couple of other minor things.
I arranged for them to fix these things under warranty but they did a crap job.
They put 2 new clamps on the steering rack boots so it wasn't obvious that it was leaking into the boots.
They tightened the rear shocks mounts when they needed to be replaced.
Changed the fuel filter which did nothing for the starting problem.
I had it checked by my mechanic again after they did the warranty work and he confirmed that they basically did nothing.
I booked it in again but wrote the car off a week before it was due to go back due to a problem with the steering. There was a recall by ford for the problem that I had with the steering but I didn't get a letter from them till it was too late.
I rang Australian Fleet Sales and ripped the shit of the service manager. He said that the car should have been towed to them after the accident.
The car was a write off - $21000 worth of repairs required.
I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a car from them.
What area are you from paddyj?
Thats pretty unlucky, I think I'll steer clear of them!
I'm in Leichhardt in Sydney, what about yourself?
I'm near Katoomba in the Blue Mountains.Originally Posted by paddyj
I got my Commodore from Sam Penna Motors in Penrith (Owned by the same people as Springwood Holden). They were really good. I had a couple of things fixed under warranty but they didn't fool around just fixed them properly without any worries.
Nice, I would live out there if I didn't have to work in the city! Might Thanks I'll call into them the next time I'm out that way.
