Chevrolet Corvette C6
Watching Top Gear tonight, next week they will be testing the new C6 'Vette which as we all know is powered by the new LS2/Gen4 V8.
Unable to wait, I jumped on the net and got the dirt on the C6 and how Top Gear found it. Well I was of course expecting it to be written off by Clarkson and Hammond, being an American car built for Americans.
Well for starters, the C6 ran a time round their test track that ranked 11th - 0.4 seconds faster than a Porche 911 Turbo!! For those who don't know, the ranks of this list include names from Porche, Ferrari, Lotus, Lambougini, and of course include the Kornegzieg and Zonda. Not only that, it seems that they actually liked it!!
I can't wait for the Gen4 VE Commodore, seeing what a brute of a donk its getting now has really lifted my spirits
Mike

I've always been a huge fan. There are three 'Vettes in my perfect garage now, being the 1969 Stingray in Black, the Sledgehammer, and now the C6.

Pop on over to Chrysler.com and have a look at the new Magnum Hemi...not a bad looking car at all!
The only dodgy (sorry... ) part about the new "Hemi" is that 1: it ain't 426 cubic inch, and 2: it has a "Displacement on Demand" system (which may be getting looked at for the next Holden V8 apprently). It somehow collapses a couple of lifters on four cylinders and drops back to run on four cylinders when cruising, but comes back in on eight cylinders when power is required...erm...can anyone else imagine one of these with five or ten years on it, in Australian conditions...and suddenly and accidnetally dropping back to four cylinders just as you're winding it out past a semit trailer out on the highway....
Holden....think long and hard before doing this to our V8's....
In case you were wondering, the massive fuel economy increase they get by doing this to the engine? A princely 3 miles per gallon increase......

The mammoth V16 they built on the LS2 platform did that, it could shut right down to 4 cylinders
