    Question HSV badged commodores

What's with people putting HSV badges on commodores, and some people making new Badges up????
If it's not the real Maccoy, why do people do it???? ^o)

I guess it's like people putting GT-R badges on their GTS Skylines, when they're ony running an RB25DE with nothing than a riced-up, wide body kit?
    I'm confused

So that means it is like all the other skylines out there?

I don't like people doing it, but it is their car and their choice...who are we to persecute them..

My dad's VL V8 Calais, has some HDT badges on it. Is that alright?

(Keeping in mind, that it's got alot of Brock stuff on it, but not a genuine one )

Anyway I don't really care, too be honest.

I prefer my XR8 for cruising, prefer the SS for fun. The SS is just a weekender now, gets driven perhaps once every fortnight...

I like both cars the same, to be able to own a Ford and a Holden in the same era is great.

Whats the point? Runs low 11's now, could crack into 10's almost, but again no point, then i have to cage it to take it to the track

The XR is here to stay, well at least until the new Ford comes out early 2008, maybe then i will buy something by FPV(providing it looks better than the VE which wont be hard)

VT SS wheels are too common on anything, go something different

    Was only kidding matey!
Yeah, i knows couple of people who update every year from SS, to XR8, back and forth, and they reckon the XR's are a better car in the long run
But the SS is lighter on the pocket, and tows anything with its reliable torque. (not saying an xr cant tow.....)

Talking of towing, my mates dad has a VZ SS thunder (6.0Ltr) sport-kit etc.
    His previous ride was a VY S - 3.6Ltr and it towed a Bobcat........with a staggering 19Litres to 100ks!!!!!!
His VZ now tows a new trailer (even heavier than the old) with the same 'Cat and it drinks an awesome 14.5Ltrs per 100!!!!
The SS does 8 ltrs on long drives @ an average 110km/ph.
Why do people boycott V8's for their massive bores and heavy drinking, when most are better (to a tradey) than the 6's.

Hey guys, thought i would add my bit.
I'm a owner of a hsv and i hate seeing mockups with all the badges etc.
Especially when the have clubby or gts stickers etc and have a 6.
I'm a big fan og mock up walky's aslong as they are not built to look identical and have the stickers. Hsv need to be more stringent on the handing out of genuine stuff. Call me a prude but hey, nothin wrong with building something that looks similar, just don't try and flog it off os the real deal, and yes kissing your sister should not be done!! ever!!!!!! lol

When I get my Marlin 39A, im gonna go hunting for commodores with the fake bullet hole stickers and put some real rounds in their car. Then they cant complain they don't have the real thing
That's what I think of people with fake $hi+ on their commies

AFAIK you need to provide a VIN number to get most HSV parts. Unfortunatly not all of their distributors police this the way they should and as things get older, more aftermarket suppliers pop up and will sell to anybody. IMHO HSV have done as much as can be expected in this respect.

I'm going the other way with no HSV badges - put all the good bits in and leave it bog stock standard on the out side... hope to keep it longer that way.

I hear wat your saying reaper, wat i meant was holden should be stringent with it. I know we don't live in a perfect world, and it aint gonna happen. I've had to provice my vin number even when buying the stickers.
I saw the other day on ebay a guy flogging off a blank hsv build plate. Wat next? People like 88greenvn have got the right idea, and your right about advertising, even with mine being a bit older and hey they're not worth that much anymore, i have to be carefull where i park, it nearly got knocked off at kwinana motorplex in the carpark.
    Keep it real guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I don't like people mocking up GTR-XU1 's and SLR-5000's either; With the massive SLR-5000 rear-panel.
=====> Then you see them in the Trading post with the highest price tags ever.........and right at the bottom of the advert is the letters:
    'lookalike'

I guess that applies to the good 'ol XW GTHO phase 1,2 and 3!....even though this place is for commodores

It's like the old comment I read in a Street Machine mag years ago, in an articel about the A9X Torana...it said there were "700 made, of which 6500 are still on the road"...
