i didin't think you could but it isnt on the restrictions part on the back of my l's licence, i'd say ring the rta etc and find out
I think you can. I learnt to drive in a VT SS Commodore... and I also passed for my Ps in it.
when was that? laws have changed
This came in my l's pack
As of 11th of july:
*High performance six cylinder engines
*eight or more cylinders
*Turbo or Supercharged (diesel exempt)
*Performance Modifications
are not allowed on p1 or p2
If you already had your l's your exempt
This is in NSW
oh ok cool so i can legally drive it, but not legally do the km/h i will be doin:P
hehe .... i seen this turbo diesel BMW on tv the other week .... got up to 140 MPH... miles per hour .... and it did quite good against the petrol engine BMW too ..
i read on some rta sheet that L platers can drive anything because they must be supervised while driving so i guess its regardless if you got your Ls a year ago or a day ago, i know if you already had your reds before the laws came in and you get get your greens after they came in your still exempt.
lucky me.
well i know in victoria you can drive anything on your L's
E Series
are L platers allowed to tow anything?
not sure, sorry
E Series
L platers can drive anything... thered be outrage if a parent who owned a v8 couldnt teach their kid.. ive never heard of the performance rule applying to learners. very sure of this
not sure about other states, but in vic you can drive anything on your l's. I was mainly driving a VY SS, also drove a V12 a few times, past the cops n everything. They pulled me over but only for a bretho, they didnt say anything about the car so i'm sure you'd be right
But wait... There's more!!
But that's not all!!!

VT Calais II... The Italian Stallion
Just drove the turb.....f**king awesome, booting it, and i found out i can legally drive it on my L's, but no you cant tow anything til ur P's..., god that car has some guts once ive hit 90kms, then throw it down to 3rd, it goes nicely :P
by what im told (when my dad rang up vic roads) L platers can drive any car no matter what. and the restrictions are for p platers only and as for towing we got told that you can not tow at all on your L's (because some people can barely drive let alone tow and reverse a trailor).... then on your p's you can only tow small trailors(any thing with 1 axel) and as soon as our full license tow what you want.... and as for restrictions on p platers. im not 100% on this because we didnt ask but if i remember right from my L book the power 2 weight ratio is either
125 or 130 kw to each ton OR
3.5 litre per ton...... im not 100% on these to but thats just off memory but the rest is what we got told last time we rang vicroads. hope it helps
All the states are different but.. so which state we talkin about??
well im in NSW, i know i cant legally Tow... but yes i definently can drive a turbo because im supervised, but P platers cant because they are un supervised
Just rememebr your driving the car on you L's to get experience.
Not to get your rocks off from a boost or to see yourself pass the cops or to say you 'got away' with something.
I wonder why I'm still picking shit up off the roads.
Use you L Time wisely and use someone sensible in a senisble car.
