    Default fine scratches

hi, this might be in the wong section so forgive me, my car has lots of fine scratches and swirl marks on the paint, someone told me there is a way to get rid of it by buffing something on it, i tried meguiars scratchx and it didnt do anything. Apart from getting a respray anyone know what this other method is apparently its a gel they buff on with a high speed buffer????

I know the stuff you mean.. It is a buffing compound.. I think it is green off memory ... Anyone who details cars should have it, or go to a spray painter and have them cut back the paint and buff and polish it...

all that was used was a high speed buffer some polish stuff and thats it. I think he hand painted the deep ones after filling the scratch and sanding back etc.

I actually might go down to my panal beaters and get them to do it, for $150 sounds pretty decent.. Especially if it's gonna make my car shine ;D.

A simple and easy way is to use some jiff, sounds silly but it does work...

Hey guys, i can help with your painting questions if anyone has any

About minor scratches, go down to your local autopaint shop, get some machine buffing coumpound, try Ferecla, thats what i use, use the finer grade and use it with a machine buff, stay away from edges or ridge lines.
Buff away and keep moist with a spray of water.

After u have buffed it you will still see the swirl marks from the buff, nothing you can do as it always happens, buy some hand glaze, 3M make a great one, the hand glaze removes the super fine swirl marks.

If the scratches are deep, or you have the bird acid marks, then you can cut and polish... involves using an abrasive compound to take of a fine layer of clear coat, then polishing over it again to bring out the shine and remove swirls and scratches and imperfections.
Best to let and expert handle though because if you dont know what youre doing you can rub right through the paint and screw it up worse than before.
