As some would know i have put up several posts on cooling problems as for all who have answered thankyou for all your repliesbut get a load of this! since i have had cooling problems with my vs v6 eco calais i have embarked on a mission to try to remedy the prob and as such have had red devil radiators srcatching their head i have had a holden work shop scratching their head (can you beleive that one) and repairs that i have done are as follows: coolant temp sender, gauge temp sender, new water pump, new radiator, 3lots of coolant flushes & new thermostat and still she gets hot now there is no emulsification no missfire all hoses are secure no air leaks around inlet manifold and ive bled the air escape drives great sits on half way(normal operating temp) but let it idle or stop and she just climbs past the 3/4 mark but keep the air con crankin and it dosent get much past half way but acording to holden the report they gave me said the thermo fan is kicking in at the right temp
and another thing that got me pissed at them is they didnt even know about the block drain bungs on both sides of the block i mean cmon you think with as many v6 engines they have to service and check they would know waht their doin any way any ideas would be great cheers
id check the cooling fans my self. they should cut in about half way to 3/4 on the gauge
but it sounds to me like a blocked raidator
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

does it have electric fans or thermo fans? if it has thermo then the fan clutch may be slipping so at idle it doesn't suck enough air through. the fan bade may be on the wrong way too.
it would definetly have electric fans.
My fans kick in as soon as the gauge hits 1/2 way, id definetly get a 2nd/3rd opinion. Plus my normal running temp is just above 1/4 when driving and just under half in traffic.
It definetly sounds like a fan problem because the temp is allright with the aircon on cos the fans come on when air con is on(wish my aircon worked)
Start the car drive it around to normal temp then come back home and let it idle. See if the fans actually do turn on without the a/c on. If the fan turns on then it not the fan, if it doesnt turn on then definetly a communication prob somewhere between fan and the part/sensor that turns the fan on.
ive done that already i take it for a drive it gets to halfway then if i stop it just goes all the way up to 3/4 and keeps going and at the 3/4 mark the thermo fan kicks in but not for long enough to drop the temp gauge down. I have also started it from cold in the morning and just let it sit there and sure enough it just climbs on up till the little overheating lamp comes on the only way i can see a way around this problem is to put A custom switch in to turn the fan on and off manually because im sick of turning the aircon on and off all the time. The only thing holden did say was that the fan was kicking in at the right temp and that when they did there test they found poor flow through the radiator but ive since replaced the radiator and it hasnt helped much at all but i was thinking there could be a blockage in the heads or block somewhere (joy) oh well cheers for the advice anyway fellas it has been apreciated cheers
Has Anyone put a Pressure Tester on it ?Does your windscreen fog up easily as the heater core in these things play up dramatically especially when Air Cond is On? All the symptons though lead to a blocked radiator. Also I know for a fact that currently Natrad (radiator specialists)are having huge issues with the Holden Coolants coroding radiator and heater cores! good luck

does it actually boil?
there is a revised temp sender to fix the excessive guage movement in some VS V6 try changing the sender
