Sorry buddy, that whole top section of the dash is one piece.
The very existance of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to do it.

disconnect the battery (you should do it when playing with electrics anyway)

Always disconect the airbag via battery, fuse and the yellow connection.
WARNING: The airbag can still go off but you need to give it real hard bang for this to happen.

Hi folks I have a VS and the air bag cover on the crash pad passenger side is peeling away from the dash and the airbag light is now on so how bad is it ? and i could do with a few contacts on who fix dashes like this in sydney that would be real great if you let us know.
