Thats correct, blue and red arent allowed to be seen from the fornt of the vehicle, neons are legal providing they cant be seen and can be switched on and off inside the vehicle

I'm from Melbourne and I had neons fitted on my Commodore.. They were perfectly legal a few months ago, unless the legislation has changed, I can't see why they'd be illegal now..
I'd cruised through quite a few booze buses with neons and even been pulled over by coppers just because I had neons on.. They walked upto my car with a book, but I never once received anything about my neons..
Well once, when my neon was loose and you could see the globe. Even then, it was just a friendly warning..
Now about the legalities of neons.. Vicroads and Traffic coppers confirmed it was legal with my mechanic (who was refusing to give me a RWC until I proved to him that neons were legal)..
You're either spouting **** or legislation has changed.. One of the two..

Striaght from a qld transport inspector says that australia wide.
Neons, Cold cathrodes etc etc Are legal to fit.
As long as they can only be operated while handbrake is on and the car is not operational.
In other words your engine must be switched off. and the handbrake must act as a circuit breaker. (switch) before the lights can go on.
Also the only LEGAL flashing light you can have is a yellow flashing orb. And it can only be used in dangerous siturations like for eg:
Accident ahead
Roadworks.
Dangerous load (if your carrying unstable crap in your trailer)
and anything that requires you to alert other drivers to take care.
the part about drinking a can of coke whilst driving is true. if the officer can prove it WAS affecting your driving then he has every right to fine you. so make sure it IS NOT affecting your driving. Its as distracting as taking on a mobile.
All cars are needed to be below a DB rating. as for custom built bikes (choppers) im not sure. I thought the rule was global accross all modes of transport

in qld it is illegal to drive with red and or blue parkers
it's illegal to drive with neon lights in your wiper jets
itts illegal to have any flashing lights inside your car and working while driving
it's also illegal to drive with neons on, you wanna have them, fine, use them, but up here, you just cant use them while driving, you wont even get a road worthy with them on
and john, this post isnt directed at you, you snuck in with your reply while i was doin mine

They can be fitted and ON in ANY state of australia providing they meet the ADR guidelines, but then again, i guess the family i have in the police force means nothing.
I also find it laughable you are backing a guy who condones ****wit driving.
Wanna ban me? Fine, no skin off my nose

Wondering the legalities of using a aftermarket steering wheel.Found these 2 sites http://www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/str_adrindx.aspx and http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/L..._modifications
My car ia a non airbag vr and Ihave fitted a momo which should be adr approved.
Warney told me he got done for having one fitted .....got me worried now...would hate to have to put the **** stocko one back on.
Coppers have got you when they claim anything...what are you going to do argue...not likely....like argueing with the missus...you never win even if you are right.
So you cop the fine ...pursuing it isnt worth it and the cops know it...we are at their mercy....sort of power trip for them.
That might not be every copper just everyone I have ever met...I may be wrong and for policewomen it is ditto x 2.
