respray question
im looking to paint a few parts of my car soon. i want to completely respray the rear bumper, and to also respray the black strip that runs along the centre of the car. what i want to know is should i use a air compressor spray gun, or should i just use touch up spray cans worth $20 each? also, how much paint would i be looking at using if i used the spray gun?
here is a picture to give a better idea. any help is appreciated

You'd probably get a better finish of a gun. And you shouldn't need no more than a litre to those parts.
Have fun painting Stockers.....It'll look awesome with that black painted!!

Definatly get a better finish off a gun and I think 1ltr should do it coz once you add thinners and **** it goes further. Just make sure you prep it properly, Id hate to see it peeling off after a few months! Get some wax n grease remover and go over everything your going to paint to avoid contamination, if you've ever armor all'd the black strip you will definatly need wax n grease remover. Paint dosent like silicone!

thanks guys. i used to have the black strip along the bottom of the car too like most berlinas, but i painted that white using touch up spray cans(as you can see in that photo), and it turned out very well. im just considering using the gun because i dont want to spend a heap more on spray cans

You wont need much paint at all mate. I know they are abit smaller but my cousins torana used just under 4 litres to paint the whole car, jambs and engine bay included.

How much would it cost you to get a litres worth of cans? If you were to compare both for coverage per litre, i reckon you'd do better out of the gun.....

yeah i think youre right. i have an air compressor already, not sure if it has a spray gun attachment or not. anyways, if i get 1 litre of paint, ive read i need 4 or so litres of thinner, is that right?
also, do i prime it using a spray gun as well?

I've usually seen paint mixed at a ratio of 1:3.....But it's really the painter's preference.
And yes...Prime from the gun.

Depending on the weather and which coat you are up to (first few or later on) ratio is normally either 40:60, 50:50 or 60:40. Early coats go on dry so more thinners. The hotter the weather less thinners aswell.
