I don't think you're allowed to drive the super 6 in victoria anymore (artificial aspiration), or maybe they haven't intro'd the law yet, I don't know but if you're considering it better look into it before spending the money (at least if you're in Vic)

All three sound like good cars, VT is the newer shape and you could do it up to look a bit like a Monaro or a VZ (or maybe in the future a VE at the front - if they change the wagons and utes to look like VEs because there won't be a wagon/ute in VE until 2008) - but it's the first of the platform so there might be some bugs.. Statesman is also pretty pimping and it's the VS so it's the last of the platform so it's probably the most refined..

    Tough call!

It really depends on what you're after matey.. luxury, performance, resale, age?

    - VS super 6 would be the quickest and lightest, you'll have trouble finding one that hasn't been thrashed I reckon.
    - VS Statesman would be the most luxurious and stylish and also probably heaviest
    - VT berlina is newest, not as luxurious as Statesman but probably more so than the VS super 6

Another vote for VS Stato. Just go the N/A V6 though, if you're in Vic they won't let you have a Super6 or V8 anyway until you get your full license.

And would you believe the VS Stato still weighs 50Kg less than a VT1 exec. VS SWB is going to go hardest (exec, calais, etc), VS LWB (Stato, Caprice) are your next best option, and the VT while being the newest (depending on the year of the stato) is going to be the slowest of the lot, heavy bugger they are.

They havent brought the laws in yet mate.
Get a manual VN V8 Exec. Then spend the change on some rims, lowering and power mods. Who needs velour or climate control when ya can run 13's with a bolt on V8

Lol if you're concerned about fuel then the super-6 is out of the question, it'd be surprisingly thirsty because it would be forcing more air into the engine, increasing the rate at which fuel is burned.. always the way, it's difficult to have performance and fuel efficiency

the laws that a P plater cant drive anything with 8 or more cylinders, anything with forced induction... with some exclusions like the smart cars. comes in first of july 2007, but if you get your Ps before then then your fine.

yeah i go the vs CAPRICE!

that has got to be one beautiful car.

my favourite car is the vq caprice, cant beat it!
but that would be hard to find and expensive.

so as a first car id honestly say something like a vs berlina. with the money you save you could paint it. would be the say to go
    my web site
stuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!

I'd personally go with the VT Berline. I like the VT shape more and you'd have more of a chance finding one with less K's on it because it isn't as old. VT's also have a slightly wider stance than a VS so you'd have a touch more added stability.

It's whatever you're really going to prefer mate. I'm a VT man myself so of course I'm saying I'd get a VT.

Go a VK, spend a few grand on doing it up, if you are allowed whack a 308 V8 in it, polished heads, new cam, maybe forged pistons if you want, the list is endless.....

Can vouch for the thirstiness of the S/C. S/C Calais drank about 14L/100 of 95RON, Stato being heavier would drive even more, it's not a cheap hobby At the time was costing me almost $80 to go 400-450km... sometimes I don't miss it at all.

Yeah I reckon a VK-L... spend up to $3000 on a first car.

Completely agree with sixshooter, +1 for what he said

I know when I'm going to be learning to drive and just a new driver on the road I don't want someone with less experience than me driving a car twice as powerful (even though you'll certainly be more experienced than me since I don't even have L plates yet, I was just saying - not attacking you)
