    Default Restoring fading paint?

I was looking at Ruby today, and she's a little faded on the roof and bonnet. I have one of those orbital poisher thingys, but what would be the best product to use to (hopefully) restore the colour? Is it even possible to do without getting a respray?

The fading isn't too bad, but I want to get on to it before it turns that horrible pinkish colour.....

    Any ideas would be great!!

Comes in a yellowish plastic bottle with a white lid. (like a shampoo bottle)
1 Thing is to mist a little water on the job first. - not too much
2 Dont cut n polish in direct sunlight.
3 Gets some open weave cloth to clean up with.
4 Dont use anything that can scratch the paint eg old shirt with buttons...
Good luck with the clean up as it's always worth it.

If the paint is just a little faded then you might be able to get away with a simple polish and good wax. Whatever you do make sure you prep the paint properly before starting. A polish and wax is only as good as the surface it is applied too. I'd recommend after washing use a clay bar to remove surface contaminants that regular washing will not. Then apply a polish like Meguiars Deep crystal polish then finish with a wax or sealant to protect the paint. A very good sealant is Meguiars 'polymer sealant'. Works a treat. There's lots of other products around that are just as good as meguiars, but megs is available everywhere and I use it because I like it. If you want to do it by hand then get some sort of hand applicator pad like the yellow Meguiars ones. If that doesn't restore to colour and shine then you'll probably need a light swirl remover or a very light cutting compound. If you're really serious about it I'd recommend forking out for a good quality orbital polisher. Just make sure you apply a wax or sealant after you fix the fading once a month and you won't have any fading problems anymore. I can recommend a few websites for further information to help with specific questions...

I'd like to hear what other people suggest and see some photos that show off their efforts when it comes to detailing.

It's all good. My dads girlfriend and I attacked Ruby with some stuff we "conned" out of the boat detailer at dad's work, and some buffer thingy that looked like an angle grinder that made me panic when Michelle pulled it out....

But she is 100% better. Needs to be done again shortly as a few bits are a little harder to get out, and she still needs a good polish to make her super shiny. Have a look here ---> http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...d=1#post447675 to see how bad she was....

Thanks for all your advice guys.
