    Default No car now. (Crashed)

Well im not happy. On my way home from work on friday and a chick in a Corolla runs a give way and cuts the corner at the same time and ran head on into my car. I was about 200 metres from home and had a carton of XXXX golds to start on for the weekend and now its all out the window. Now I wont have my car for at least a week if not more. The chick doesnt have to worry about her car getting written off as it is only a couple of years old, she will definately get hers repaired but now I have to worry about if mine will be economical to repair. I dont want to have to try to find another car as good as mine. The paint might not of been up to scratch but the whole drivetrain was rebuilt by the previous owner less than 3 years ago. It will be hard to find another one thats had that much mechanical work done to it for the same amount of money.

Oh damn. That would suck soooo bad. The poor VN. I hope it doesn't get written off. It'd be a real pain having to start all over again.

I was doing bout 50-60kph before i hit the picks so maybe 30kph at impact, she would of been doing about the same.

It might of been a lot worse if she wouldnt of cut the corner as i would of hit her drivers side door instead of the front.

Damn mate, what a retard driver... Can you draw a little overhead diagram, I'm still wondering how she could have run into your car from a giveway sign lol.

There is two give way signs at the intersection, she obviously didnt see the second one, and she cut the corner off so we hit head on. Here the best I could do in paint. My path is blue hers is green the give way signs are red.

hmm, she is int he wrong, her insurance company can't write off your vehicle, i thought it had to be repaired, regardless of price.

yeah, if you get up her insurance company they will fix it (well.....should fix it) tell them exactly what you've said, that you wont find a equally mechanically sound car for what the market price is on the vn.
just looking at the damage in the pics it doesnt look too nasty anyway, a bit of a touch and go situation with whether they would try to write it off or not.

Well that will be good if they have to repair it regardless. from what I can tell it needs a bonnet, LH guard, bumper bar, driving light, headlight, indicator and the body straightened or a new piece welded on. The chassis rail is slightly bent but I dont think it would be enough to cause alignment problems because the bend is in front of the crossmember.

Ive confirmed with her insurance company that the claim has been lodged and arranged with them to tow it on monday to their insurance assessor.

One interesting thing they told me was that until she gets her car assessed and pays her excess they wont repair my car. That doesnt sound right to me. Its not my fault if she cant pay her excess, I would think they would have to repair the car regardless and that my car should be repaired ASAP as she was at fault for the accident.

thats sounds hella dodgy! the whole "we wont pay for your car to be fixed untill after her car is assessed and she pays excess"...for starters excess is usually taken out of the payout, if its a write off.
i gather they want to assess her car to see if there are any unclaimed mods done to it so they can weazel out of paying up...i hope her car was a stocker.

Well hers wont be a write off as its a current model Corolla. And her situation should have nothing to do with it. If the insurance company finds a reason to deny payout it should only affect her car not mine, mine has to be repaired regardless. I think the reason might be to make sure that the accident really took place and im not bullshitting. Because otherwise you could get any car repaired if you could get someone to say they were at fault.

Nah insurance normally do that. They wait for the excess to be paid before doing anything.

in the two times ive been in a accident and i wasnt at fault i had my car fixed straight away, one of the times i had it at the crash repairers with a insurance claim ref. number on the next day.
i didnt have to wait for anything, the other persons insurance company gave me a couple of approved repairers to chose from and i took it straight in, no waiting around.

That sucks ass...glad you aren't injured though.

...for some reason a line from an English adult cartoon magazine I rad some years back comes to mind...a guy has had some idiot run a stop sign and hot him, and he gets out of his wrecked car rolling his sleeves up and says "I'm glad you survived that crash mate...I'd hate you to miss the beating I'm going to give you..."

Hmm, When my VL was written off I had to wait for the lady to pay her excess, and the same deal was going to happen when I was hit by a motorbike just over a month ago.

Perhaps it depends on the insurance that the other person has? Comprehensive or 3rd Party.

yeah, could be...probably depends on the company itself too, like what sort of policies they have regarding payouts.
the insurance business is a strange and confusing world, lol.
