is brake fluid flammable?
Edit: title spelt wrong, flammable
bit brain dead at the second, is brake fluid flamible?
stacked my motor bike about a hour ago and just noticed that the little glass section on the front brake leaver, that allows you to see the fliuds level is smashed. so was thinking MiG welder + hole = fixed
but i cant find a bottle of brake fluid around the house so cant find out if its flamible, i assume it is but not possitive

No it isn't. The most it would do is just smoke and smoulder. I have chucked in sump oil in the bin up at the farm and it doesn't blow, just makes it very hot and makes everything burn better. The same would probably be for brake fluid. It would just probably smoke. Just don't mix it with chlorine as the two cause a reaction and makes it pop and splatter with a firey smoulder.

Some brake fluids are, it depends on what solvents are in the brake fluid as well.
It won't ignite as fast as petrol, etc but can still catch fire in the right circumstances

If you weld it I'd say it would catch fire !
Google for material data safety sheets on dot 3 brake fluid...

You should clean it out properly before welding anyway. It may burn but I doubt it would explode like a petrol tank would. Just clean properly before welding and all should be good.

A better idea than araldite is to get a bolt thread cut to size and plug the hole and then weld over the top. Then just file it a bit and it should look ok. I think I have seen the brakes you have. I don't think araldite will last because it starts to melt at about 60-80 degrees.
