Default just a quickie

ok I'm looking to buy a new car, but I'm having a little trouble on debating the little things that make it that little bit extra special, I'm a little pedantic.

I know this may seem stupid but what's the difference between an SS and an SV8?

Depends what model you're looking at, but generally:

SS has better: Body kit/spoiler, tail lights, interior bits and pieces, head lights and other things.. In terms of VE the SV8 has become the SS and the SS has become the SS-V if that means anything lol..

Drivetrain components should be identical, though I'd say the SV8 would weigh slightly less

EDIT: Remember with enough work you could put any bits and pieces you wanted from the SS into the SV8, it's just a matter of spending extra money and time.. if you're going to customize it with a HSV or aftermarket bodykit/tail lights/etc probably better to go the SV8 because it'd be cheaper

Yep just kit and options... driveline exactly the same.

I think it's just gear like climate control (not an option on SV8 AFAIK), leather, kit, wheels, etc...

It's just me and it's still new but if you're buying a newish car maybe a VZ SV8 (unofficial series 2) with the 6.0 litre L76 motor.. that is, if they even built VZ SV8s with the L76 (might have dropped the model with the intro of L76 but not sure)..

Actually even better, give this a read to see the exact differences:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_...#Commodore_SV8

I say VZ because being the final model of the platform it would theoretically be be the most refined, but I could be wrong (I know they were removing glovebox lights or something?!)

oh ok, there's only a few minor differences i could tell just by looking at em, if i couldn't afford a VZ i was going to go with a VY SS.

Thanks alot for your help juzza, you're a champion

any rough estimates as to how much a conversion from auto to manual is?
