Default Anti Boil/Freeze To Much added?

    Hi,

I decided to flush and refresh my radiator as the original coolant was very rusty. Purchased the 5 litre container from Repco which said to use at 50% concentration - I got carried away and threw in the whole container which left not much room for any water!

What do you guys reckon, is this a bad thing - should drain some or will it be OK?

    thanks - Rhinoman

your cooling capacity is atleast 10 litres anyway isn't it? did you start the car to run the fluid through the motor and turn the heater on too to get it through the heater core?

Geez you guys are fast, I did not drain the block as its been damn hot in Melbourne and I had to replace the rusty muck with some good stuff. My mechanic could not do it until next week so had a go myself !

Appreciate the responses guys, I bleed off the air (there was none!) and turned on heater (silly me) so it all looks good now. I will mention it to my mechanic but should be good -- thanks.

Here is my next drama, put on the brakes and the parking lights and dash lights come on - weird or what?

that one was discussed the other day, i think the conclusion was putting the wrong globe in the brake light socket or the globe has blown and shorted over to the parker part of it.

yeah you might need a twin filament globe, it could be closing the parker circuit.

it should be alright if its something like 60/40 but you dont want too much coolant because it needs water mixed with it to bring it to its best. if you don't add enough water it wont be long untill the coolant life is up and then it actually becomes corrosive

    Juzsvy,

I've got a VS 5 litre and was wondering when u refer to draining the block - are u meaning to drain the coolant where radiator hose goes to the water pump/block? Or somewhere else?

    Your clarification needed pls.

    Cheers Freakme

under the left exhaust manifold there is a bolt inbetween the last welsh plug and the middle one. undo that and you should get about another litre or so of old coolant out
