Good lord what a pain in the neck. Every time I put in the clutch, the car stalls. The speedo doesnt work, and its really irritating. The story goes.....
It started stalling when you depress the cluth, and the orange engine warning light came on. Got an auto sparky to look at it, and after 3 hours ir testing things, he told me it was the dash cluster. Replace that and all will be sweet. He was right, till a few months later, when it started happening again, so that got turfed, now the 3rd one is playing up. Me thinks the problem lies where the sensor goes from the speedo to wherever it goes too. That I have no idea of. Now, Holden did a diagnostic and told me it was the alternator, and wanted $1950 to replace it :my: my responce to them, (as it was already in therre workshop ready to go so the lad informed me) get f****d, do not touch that car. I think the diag came back wrong, as they have severly mis diagnosed my Ute before. (your remote locking is causing your problems. Dude, I dont have remote locking! ) annd the sparky laughed at me when I told him Holdens alternator story.
So, does anyone know about this problem, or is it really thespeedo cluster and Im havng a run of bad luck here?? You have to help me! Untill its fixed, the wife is driving my ute, and my XC falcon is off the road for a whil, so I am stuck driving it![]()

i bought a Pulsar for my daughter... i was told that the battery wasnt getting charged .... same thing... it just stalled for no reason ... daughter bought $100 alternator that was supposed to be the right one ... it charged the battery no problems... but the engine kept stalling ... after checking everything and a few months later she bought a Gregory's manual .... in there it says the alternator has a huge charging rate like a truck .... she asks her mechanic and he said this is right .... she then bought the alternator with the huge charging rate and BINGO .... no more stalling .... maybe your holden prob might be similar ...
well thanks Hairy Eater. Perhaps Holden were right..... but at near 2000 bucks, the need for a second opinion was needed! Well, might ring around for a new one on Monday![]()
