    Default Question about glue

    Hello all...

I have been doing a boot layout in my car, and im now to the stage of sticking the vinyal to the MDF.

What does everyone use? Ive been asking around, but all people can tell me is to get contact adhesive. But im not the best with glues. I have no idea.

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

    Cheers
    Charles.

Probably something like wood glue, but don't take my word for it.

Use either a contact adhesive/cement (what I would use) or sheet vinyl adhesive (alot stronger but a nightmare to work with).

Bunnings has contact adhisve. You can just paint it on with a brush. You can get it in a sprycan but that is more expensive.

** warning, when you attach the two surfaces they instantly bond ** this way, there is no movement, so have it lined up correctly! Coat the surfaces seperately with contact adhesive, let it sit for a few minutes to kind of set, then stick them together.

I'll have to vote for contact glue in a spray can... its great for 2 reasons

    1. Easy clean up (getting contact glue off a brush is impossible)
    2. Once its on, its on. Period.

As soon as the two surfaces touch, thats it... instant bond and cant be pulled off. Perfect for things that cant be clamped or would be a pain to clamp... like vinyl or any other flexible material. I use it with speaker carpet and it works a treat.
