Default Who developed the Cross Trac AWD system ?

Can anyone tell me where the Cross Trac AWD system came from ? I assume that Holden didn't develop it just for a couple of models. Is it a Yankee system or did it come from someone like Opel ?

the original pototype awd wagon was built by the powertrain garage at Holden in Port Melbourne.
all the components were sourced from different suppliers.
all the crossmembers etc were hand built there.

so yes it was developed & built by Holden

    Well, bugga me !
They seem to have developed an excellent system. We have an Adventra SV6 at work and I'm quite impressed with it's performance and handling. It goes well, it shifts well, it goes around corners well and it stops hard.
I'm thinking about trading my Crewman up to a Cross 6.

The VE was developed with AWD in mind, so the VE is ready to go with an AWD system, but nothing has been developed as yet.

The old AWD system wont be used in the VE models, a newer version will. The AWD system doesnt handle ALOT of power, which is why it was never coupled with an LS2.

What about the coupe 4? The AWD system is identical in that as in any of the holden awd's... I was thinking about getting a CAPA supercharger for my Cross 6 to help with towing the rally car...

The transfer case is the same as the BMW X5, and Ford Territory, although i think the ford uses a belt drive not chain drive (or the other way round)....

I've also been pleasently surprised with its off road ability too... Having had it on the beach a few times, and done reconaisance in it for rounds of the australian rally championship, its yet to let me down...

And with the traction control fuse removed, it corners EVEN better!
