    Default Tailshafts ???

Hey I'm wondering if anyone would know the lengths of the rear halfs of a VX-Z tailshaft... and a VS IRS tailshaft and whether they can be joined at the cv joint.

Reason I ask is because my tailshaft and diff need replacing... So if a VX-Z rear half off whatever model will splice to a VS front half and is the same length then and I balanced it, it would let me use any of the latter model diff centres....I'd rather do that than having to strip a later model centre down to machine the input gear and fit a VS yoke. It will sort of kill two jobs at once.

That is my last resort to hassle the wreckers.

IRS started way back before the VT... I think the VQ Statesman was one of the first as well as the Calais...

The Vt was the first to standardise it across the entire range.... only the luxury models and later sports models had it fitted before the VT at the start.

Thanks for offering... but save yourself the hassle mate... I'll just ask the wreckers if I can compare their tailshafts !!!

I just thought someone else may have gone through this mix a match to replace a diff centre and used a latter model centre.
