Steering Wheel Interchangability

G'day all...

wondering which steering wheels can be swapped between which models, and what the law says about it. i.e. can I put a VY leather airbag wheel in place of my VS calais airbag wheel...?

No laws interfere as long as it is a Holden wheel and if you have an airbag you MUST retain the airbag.

For a VS... Anything VN-VS is interchangable. Nothing after the VS will fit.

im pretty sure you can buy from repco or autobarn not sure wich one it was later model steering wheels for earlier model commodores ie a vy r8 wheel for ur vs. i was looking at gettin a vy ss wheel without airbag for my vq.

as far as i know, vn - vr, are the same, dunno bout the rest, but i do know that you need some minor mods to change from vt to vy, so i guess you would need to modify stuff for vs to vy

I was also wondering if I could change my VS Berlina Airbag wheel up to a VS Calais Airbag wheel? (Just for the volume control buttons). If they do just swap over will the loom be the same so that the volume functions actually work.

I think you can add the steering wheel audio controls to an existing wheel actually...

however, if you want to do that there is also a module under the dash somewhere that interfaces the buttons to the stereo, so be aware of that.
