My old man just bought a low km VY2 with the factory warranty due to expire in April. Then the Certified Holden Vehicle warranty kicks in.
The problem?
He lives in coburg and the dealer is in Frankston. The Extended warranty says only to the dealer or it will be voided. This includes moving 'interstate or out of your province'
Seems pretty unfair and unreasonable to make someone travel to Frankstanoban for a service let alone a warranty repair.
Anyone had any experience with this warranty deal? Just before I ream Holden!!

its made clear that the warranty works that way, i dont think you will have any luck trying to ream the dealer, especially if you happen to get me when you ring frankston.lol

1. I wouldn't be ringing the dealer.might get a free chip insertion where I don't like it. My ream preference would be Holden and the insurer. You guys are merely the conduit, but in the end the one's that profit from the arrangement.
2. I don't think it's made very clear at all in the paperwork at all. Especially when it's the closest thing in his 60 odd years to a new car
3. It's a very unreasonble contract- any contract unreasoable can't be good.
4. Given how tight fisted Holdens' warranty insurer is it can mean a lot of expensive trips.
Interesting that dealers use the internet so much to attract customers, then you travel to woop woop to get one that's nice, and you get lumbered into a false sense of security.
A factory warranty allows work at any dealer, and his car has been through 3 in its nearly 3 years since build yet GM decide you have to head to a single dealer later on. Surely someone can track a cars management on a central sysrtem given that dealers have a vehcile record system. Campaigns are recorded agains each vehicle and authority for repair goes through the insurer before repair is authorised.

i agree, the network q system isnt the best but its all written in the contract & unfortunately as you are supposed to read it before you sign it youre supposed to know these things.
im not saying i agree with it but thats the way it works.

the idea is the dealer who sells you the extended warranty cops the service work. it obviously wouldn't work very well for them to sell you one of those, then you go to another dealer for all your servicing.
as far as the idea of a warranty that ties you into a single service outlet, most people would agree it's not a good idea. but if you sign on the dotted line they're entitled to believe you are in the minority who don't mind.
of course they happily lead you to believe the extended warranty is an extension of the factory one, and therefore similar conditions. but they'll never admit that once you're locked in![]()
Ok I also faced this issue when I purchased my VY2 SS from Tony Ireland Holden in Townsville.
I ased the guys there do I ahve to drive 135klms ever time I get my bloody car serviced, they said they would look into i for me.
Two days later the guy from Irelands rings me and says there are two version of this warranty one yes you have to have the vehicle serviced by the us and the other is a you can get your vehicle service at a regestered mechanical workshop what this means its that id youe car is service by a qualityfied mechanic and the company stamp your warranty book you are covered so mine was changed to the second version.
As your farther my holden factory warranty runs out in April as well and then the other take place for 3 years.
Hope this helps
Cheers.
In the beginning God took 5 day to createHolden, on the 6th day he created
HSV and the 7th day he refined his work to create the R8 Clubsport.

Appeciate that Chappy! That's a great help. I did notice there are two different conditions. Hopefully common sense can prevail.
