    Default Thinking about trading VT

I took a Ford fairmont for a spin today,it was a Ghia with every option known to man.It was a car yard, they had $26,999 on it and it had 99,900k's on the clock. The thing was a pleasure to drive, they offered me $11,000 for a trade on my VTII 2000 with 162,000 on the clock. What do you think?

if they're offering $11000 for the VT take it.

i traded a 98 VT Acclaim with 220 000 on it earlier this year for $4000

$11,000 for a VT2 is very good, especially for a trade-in! I'm guessing the Ghia is a BA?, which is a nice car for a Ford. If you like the car and there's nothing wrong with it, by all means go for it.

I think not. That's too much for a BA Fairmont with that many K's. If they're asking $27,000 you should be able to get them down to around $25,000. But 100,000 kilometres is too much in my opinion.

Not too bad i suppose but the ford will lose value quicker than a statesman wold but you will pay more for the statesman!

Err it will? Holdens depreciate much faster.

I'd take the BA if you can get it for 2k less, although the trade in they are offering is insane.

    Different area's i suppose.
Fords down here in w'bool seem to be alot cheaper than the commys on the lot, same age similar kays etc.
Mabye fords are the better buy, cash wise anyway but with that kind of trade it would be hard to knock back anyway.

did you checkout redbook for the value ..... i live in outback QLD ... my mate looked at a holden ute here for sale at a car yard .... he went back 2 days later and told the car yard how cheap Ford's runout sale was in Brisbane and how much he could save even after paying expenses to go there .... car yard here dropped off $3,000 from the price to keep him interested .... he was trading in a RAV 4 ....

Turns out the k's vs the price was a bit rich, but yes Hairy Eater I did check out the red book and this particular yard marked up the fairmont like you would'nt believe. The market value for my VT was around $7,000 to 7,500 and private sale was $6,000 to 6,500 est. There's no way I could flog my VT off for $11,000 as per minux's remark.

I'm told resale for the car I bought today will be pretty good,I went with an 05 XR6 MKII 5sp Rapid Yellow Falcon, stands out like dogs balls. It was $35,000 with $7,000 trade on the VT,it has a 2 yr factory warranty remaining, tyre's for life (235/45/17 Dunlop Sport, when sticking to hand book service) Just gone 30,000 k's it's got just about everything the fairmont had bar full electric seat's and a few other thing's.It's a beast,I am more than happy with it.If your familiar with this car I need say no more.

I am familiar with them, and it is a nice choice.
Was that from the same place that offered you $11k first up?, just out of curiosity.
