Default What size mags should I get??

I am looking to get some mags for my VP, but being rather new to the car world I think I need some advice. My car has standard rims which are 14", and when I look at mags they are between 15"-19" - why the size difference?

What size would you recommend for a 92 VP?

Also will a different rim size cahnge the speedo accuracy?

    Thanks.

basicly those rims started out as racing rims ..... no sidewall flex ... but now it's an image thing ... as the rim gets bigger 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, the tyre profile gets smaller... tyre price gets LARGER ... but with the right setup it wont affect your speedo at all .... my commy here had 18's on it when i bought it GIEMAX RACING WHEELS ... but now i know the price of 18 tyres and IRS problem.... think i might go down a rim size or two ...

Depends on your budget. My 19's are pretty expensive, looking at $280 a tyre for cheap chinese branded tyres you've never heard of before

So keep tyre price in mind as well. 17's are cheap, anything above that, you put a hole in your wallet. Also depending on your state, 2" larger than stock is the LEGAL limit.

Just go 18's, they ride well and look nice and tyre price is reasonable. I had 19's, they were a little rough, tyre price extreme etc, so i went 18's this time, couldnt be happpier.

ide go 17s or 18s. both look good, tyres arent too over priced..

just one thing to let you know, if you had 14s on it, u can only legaly go to a 16" but cops dont usually care.

^^^ Yep, I agree, 17's or 18's. 19s and above, the tyres will put an even bigger dent in your wallet. 18s are a nice size, they look good and are practical.

And yes, I think bigger rims means the speedo is put out a bit, I think you can get it adjusted though. All that info is on this site though, just a matter of searching for it

    But wait... There's more!!

    But that's not all!!!

you can only go 2" above what the MODEL car's biggest wheel option is. so your car came out with 14s but the VP clubsport came out with 17s or 18s so you can effectively go 19s if you want. i wouldn't recommend it for all the reasons above.

I like my 17s. you can get tires for $120 so you can still have a bit of fun.

I think most people realise it is illegal to have over 2 inches, however, that being said, unless you get a smart policeman, no one will ever know. I think it is one of those laws that was written back in the 80's when everything was supposedly unsafe

That is the biggest load of bull. It is 2 inches larger than what is indicated on your ORIGINAL TYRE PLACARD...So 2" bigger than YOUR car, not the clubsport model or whatever you want it to be.

Vehicles manufactured on or after 1 January 1973 (ADR 24) are not permitted to increase or decrease the diameter of the wheel by more than 50 mm than the largest or smallest wheel listed on the tyre placard.

Note that this is only for vehicles made up to January 1st 2005 (when ADR 24 tyre and rim choice was made redundant... Most is now covered by ADR 23 passenger car tyres and ADR 42 general safety requirements however the 2 inch rule no longer exists in ANY ADR... NSW and QLD have updated their guidelines and no 2 inch law exists anymore, however other states are yet to change and may never change, South Australia being one).

haha it makes me laugh when people sell HSV tyre placards on ebay and say 'make your 20s legal!'

No point in changing something that is never enforced lol.

17's or 18's are big enough imo.
I've got no money for bigger tyres anyway!
