Yet another thread about paint/theme ideas...

K love some of your feedback in regards to a couple ideas Ive had.

VN 'S' V6 Auto.

Colours atm (factory)
Exterior - Met Imperial Blue (Dark blue) with red & silver pinstripes. VP badges. SS skirts all round. Stupid wing.
Interior - SS grey trim. Saggy roof lining (2nd one!) Custom parcel shelf (easy enough to re-cover)


So Roof lining I will do myself, I have put it off longer than I was going to due to not being sure what I want to do colour wise.
Re-do it factory colour, or black? Damo wants me to emboss it, Im not against the idea but Im not 100% for it either lol. I figure do it, if I dont like it, I can alway redo it right?


I can get a respray done in the near future. I will debadge it, & lose the stupid wing, unsure if I want to finish off the kit by adding the SS lip, I do like it, but my car isint an SS.

So my ideas are, I would love to paint exterior black.... but then what would I do interior wise? Do I do some interior parts black? IE roofling, seats, parcel shelf, doortrim inserts, so as to lose the SS checks?

Or do I respray it the same dark blue? Also rear garnish.... I would like to spray it to match the body colour (its currently black) after I have smoothed it. I think it will give a cleaner effect even if car stays blue.


I played with some blue paint I bought yesterday..... I love having extra bit laying around.... lol I grabbed some bits I had off the VKC, & painted them... Ben liked them so much he stole them!

If I paint the car black, I dont think these will work as well If I respray it blue, & do these & some chrome bits, I think it will look good. Im not after anything fancy really, as this is not my 'project' car lol but I do like to still play with it lol. & would it be 'silly' to play up cosmetics on a V6 with few mods, & no power plans?

Ill post a couple pics, crapy quaility phone cam, but you will get the idea, plus as you can see, paint is in bad condition.

We put the rear SS skirt on yesterday to complete the lower kit it had when I bought it. I also started removing the pinstriping. Wonder if I should put just silver on its own? or none at all? I like the idea of Black/silver combo or blue/silver.


It also comes down to although I love the idea of black, its more work & more money than just respraying it factory blue. The extra money I can spend on srpings & extracors/exhaust. So I guess I really am leaning towards the blue for that reason.

some appprentice at my work recently got his K30 corrolla resprayed, he got a factory colour (pascial Blue) with a blue pearl in it with a drop of vilot pearl too,
i must say it looks nice looks all stock but when you get it on the angle the pearl just pops out,

could be worth thinking as the interor colour didnt wouldnt need changing as the car remains blue but its the pearl that will give the car a fresh look and stand out

Id say just do it factory colour again and get ur springs and exhaust done will looknice and clean sound good and sit nicer just my opinion tho ur choice.

lol yes, I thought I explained..... the VN radiator cap was where I was going to start, but the cap was crappy, So because I had a new one on the VK, I used that to get an idea of the paint finish. After Ben saw how good it looked he pinched it


Its been engine bay arts & crafts at my house this arvo.... lol after showing some people my yesterdays work, we all ran down to grab some more paint lol


My poor frangipani tree looks like a xmas tree, with allsorts of parts dangling from it from different cars in all different colours lol

If I was going to renovate a VN with a dark colour... I'd snap up some light tan leather seats... and respray the interior light tan. The lighter colour would contrast well with the dark blue... I'm not a fan of a black interior with a dark blue car as the colours are too similar...black interior with a black car no worries...but not blue !

dont go blue, go phantom mica with a very slight red pearl, my car always looks like it is in a sunset, i love it.

I agree with the lighter interior, would look hot.

i cant really say as i havnt priced it up but when i do i would most likly get it hell alot cheaper, getting it though my work

Depends where you get it, try HoK, then find a HoK recognised sprayer. Give them a call and get a price. Cheap pearl looks nasty, just remember that.

well I also geting good prices & I have seen the painters own cars.... as have most of adelaide, so Im pretty sure of a decent job


Ill ask him I guesss. Just wanted a rough idea lol, if it was too extreme I wasnt even going to ask lol

3 layer pearl, (base,pearl,clear) with them striping car and prep then puting back together - 6000 for avg job

cheaper if the cars striped by you, not by much but a little and also how straght it is, more dents more money.

Seriously it has over 300,000Ks Do I really want to spend the money it needs? Or do I just put up with it looking like it does, til I can put some more money away??
