Is there any portable (by that I mean transferable between cars) satellite navigation systems that can hook up to a reversing camera? I'd imagine it would be a RCA jack so that we can remove it for security reasons.
i'm sure you can buy hand held ones .... not much bigger than a mobile phone ...
Got a Navman N60i, it rules! Even got a camera in it, picked it up for $750
I have never seen one that wasn't transferable between cars.
As for camera use I have no idea.
I am looking at buying one within a fortnight so I'll ask this question and post the answer including models I find that suit.

Check with VDO, i have a VDO sat nav system which allows me to check speed i was doing anywhere int he world, allows me to watch my car 24/7, it also has helped get me out of a speeding fine where i knew i was not speeding. It all incorporates into my alarm, so is even better![]()

I have a tomtom 910. I have found it to be an excellent unit and there is a ton of info on the internet to upgrade it's poi's, speed camera locations and maps etc. I don't think it connects to a reversing camera though.
When I was looking into them it was a toss up between it and the Navman. I liked the interface of the tomtom better and I thought it was an overall better unit. Current prices for the 910 is around $1,000 but you should be able to bargain them down to the low $900's (I paid $925). There are some cheaper versions with less features (910 has a 20gig hdd).

To my knowledge, there are no dedicated GPS devices availabe with video inputs. All of the Tomtom / Navman / Garmin etc units are portable and come with a suction-cup windscreen mount.
If you want a reversing camera, you need a hard-mounted screen of some description - the screen can be in or on the dash, mounted to the roof or a replacement rear-view mirror with a screen built in. If you want GPS and reversing camera to be incorporated into one device, you need something like the head-unit based VDO units that have a screen with Aux video inputs - not a very economincal solution really.
I went to Strathfield, Retravision, Repco, Dick Smiths, Super Cheap, Auto 1, Auto Pro, Progressive Audio and Harvey Norman's and none had heard of a unit with video inputs.
So which is better:
Navman
TomTom
Garmin
Shinco (Iknow already it's not good)?

Around melb at the moment Strathfield are offloading the Navman icn330 (probably about to be discontinued) for less than $400. I grabbed one and find it quite good. I got it mostly for work and find it very helpful.
Is it illegal to install it on the left hand side next to the rear view mirror? Also, I've searched the net for Navman Voices so we can have say a celebrity talking instead of that UK woman, but found nothing. TomTom allow that
