vy sv6 traction control

My mate just bought a Vy or Vz Sv6 and he turned the traction control off the other night and tried to do some nuts and all it did was drive around in circles with the tires whining, no smoke, nothing! and when he dropped me and my mate off he tried to do a stand still and all it was doing was spinning really really slowly. He turned the traction control off with the button inside the car but i recon it was still on or something. Theres no way a 190kw(or what ever they have) car is that shit....is there?
