Hey all
As the title suggests I got canaried tha other day coz my car was too low and was just wondering if anyone knew the difference between what it takes to get a minor or major defect.
Reason I am asking is because the height is the only thing unroadworthy on the car but I was still hit with a major defect. I presumed you needed quite a bit wrong on your car to be hit with a major defect.
who else has been done for havin a car too low and what did you get, major or minor?
Cheers
i got done for steering wheel and to low and i only got minor im awaiting regency though. as far i i know u need to get 3 thing to have it be a major defect or one in the top 3 to low, to loud, to bigger wheels
i got minor defect which was cop shop which was for rim size....
then from there i got rim size again, cracked rim, tyre placard and its classed as a major defect. my car was very low and its not defected for it. then i put the same springs in another vn which got defected later that night for too low haha.
my car had alot defectable on it and they went with basic's
how long did they give you to drive it. Mine said 1 hour

Dunno why but you got jibbed mate, the defect slip usually says you have 7 days from date of being defected to sort out ya car then you can only drive from the repairer to vicroads.
lmfao i got done for too low and got 72 hours too drive it iv never heard of anyone getting a week too drive it lol plus u gotta remeber if ur casr lowered the chances are that it will have problems espeacially in sa at regency eg damage from the car being so low tail shaft wearing throu floorpan,****ed cv.s steering rack even a cracked rubber boot will fail u and a alot of other things too

I got done for too low at Victor Harbour and the prick cop gave me just 24 hours to drive the car...
Too low = Suspension = MAJOR DEFECT which is why its regency (for those in SA).
minor can be regency aswell dylan and too low can be minor

Minor can be Regency if the policeman chooses, but too low is ALWAYS regency. The cop might tick minor, but it should be major because its suspension/body.
With wheel size isnt allowed 2" over what your model car had standard? That should mean VN-VP had 17" HSV so isn't 19" allowed?.
But with height what is legal?

If you own a VN-VP HSV then yes. You can put 19's on if 17's are factory

it's 2 inch's larger than what is stated on ur tyre placard but cops will know if u change it lol
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
i'm sure its not the rim size but the tyre size .... example:- 17 inch tyre can have the same circumference as a 18 tyre .... it depends on the profile .... basicly your 17 or 18 or bigger rim size could fit a tyre with the same circumference as the standard rim size ....
nah in SA u arnt allowed too go anymore than 2 sizes bigger than ur tyre placard states like JSTPOZN his defect sheet says wheels too be replaced with wheels no larger than 17 inch's as it had 18's when defected
