hey everyone went out today and found a place that will give me trade price on a star gravity feed spray gun now i dont know what was more suited to what im doing (and niether did the guy selling it but he said its a good brand) anyway i can choose from a
s4000 (1.4mm nozzle)
s400018g (1.8mm nozzle)
400020g (2.0mm nozzle)
all for the same price
now im spraying my kingswood, but also using it to touch up my wagon what size should i get?
cheers andy
well when i clean the guns at work i notice 1.4 on the nosel shroud so im assuming that would be the size to use and the bigger sizes would be for texter coats and sealer which are thicker
i can ask tommorow for you if you want

thanx mate that would be awesome if you could check...
are these upside down gravity feed guns any better than the normal guns ... if so, why ?
well i forgot to ask![]()
but i can clear some things up for you off the top of my head,
Garth-
as in under coat do you mean under car body sound deadner or undercoat? (as in coat under the basecoat?)
just so you dont get confused-
optinal: undercoat of the same colour (not exact match normally mixter of old paint of the same colour) to help make the basecoat really stand out
first: Basecoat (the colour)
second: Clearcoat
Hairy-
well yes and no, this guns you talk about are called HVLP (high volume low pressure) guns, meaning they are able to transfer high vloume of paint with lower presure.
there is no visual diffrence in the guns effectivaty at spraying but they are desigined to act diffrently, the HVLP gun was design to meet new standerds which required the guns to have a higher transfer rate of paint to the panel with minmal waste(overspray),
the older style (but still used) the sythin type gun or LVHP gun (low volume high pressure) requires high presure to draw the paint up from the can causing the paint to be shot at a high verlocity meaning not as higher percentage of transfer and more overspray.
