Do slotted rotors have much advantage over normal rotors?
yes for sure, good rotors (slotted) and good pads will make a world of difference

they do make a bit of difference but they do make noise to they sort of whir on harder braking.
You get the added advantage of less brake fade, as the brake slows you down the gas expands but instead of providing a cushion between the brake pedal and the disc it relieves pressure out of the slots.
And you get the advantage of keeping the brake pad surface unglazed. Which generally means less squeak, and better performance.
They look cool. They don't crack like cross drilled rotors. And you have better braking performance. Just combine it with some fresh pads and some good dot4 fluid.
If you drive it hard and wait until you're 2 metres from where you want to stop before braking then yes they are an advantage, otherwise normal driving you will notice the difference but the cost is probably not worth the look. They do work a lot better when you have ABS however, this I have noticed.

I might get them for my VK. I think they are about $50 a pair more than standard rotors.![]()
hey buddy i have sloted rotors on my vp, now im driving a vt but i dont really notice the diff
If your rotors are shagged it is probably worht spending the extra on slotted in my opinion, when my front rotars went under the machining limit i just got stocko's only to be peeved off a week later when I realised I could have had a pair of slotted rotars from rice barn for about $130 or so on special.
If your rotars go, grab a few catalouges and have a quick look around I reckon.
yeah guys just on this topic, im thinking of puttind dba rotors in my vs, how ever if i do this im also thinking of getting VT calipers. any ideas/thoughts would be great and also what about the back???
cheers
on my vn v8, went from standard to cross drilled and slotted,,,,,i do not know how they stopped a vn from factory standards,...... mine have made so much difference. They dont glaze up under heavy braking, i feel so much safer

just go to your local bursons, auto barn or super cheap and get them to match up dba slotteds to your vehicle, iv got them on my vyss, have noticed a difference especially when braking hard, i put bendix ultimates in and they chewed the disc out quick, then machined them, and put the bendix gt's in and there heaps better on the slotted rotors, not as harsh and still stop just as gwd.
i had bought some slotted ones of ebay to put on at my next service as i needed new discs and wow.. even the ebey ones where great, new pads and you could instantly tell the difference.
As for slotted at the back, its mainly a wank cus most of the braking is done up front. they look good but i doubt you'll notice any difference.
apparently they cannot be machined, which would be their only downfall.
so i would use good brake pads to keep them wearing evenly.
Gone Fishing...
Slotted rotors don't suffer the same heat issues as the stock ones, so in theory, they shouldn't ever need machining.
Would there be any difference in brake dust? Or would that have more to do with the pads themselves?
If the pads were dusty anyway, it would build up faster.
I have a Vx, i swapped the stock rotors for x-drilled and slotted items + Bendix ultimate pads and it made a MASSIVE difference, i recomend it to everyone!![]()
