Default Independant rear suspension and standard question

    Hey,

Could someone please tell me what the difference is between independant rear suspension and standard? On my VK it's got rear trailing arms upper and lower that pivot with the spring which is sitting in the lower trailing arm seat. Not sure how newer cars are.

    Cheers.

yours has a solid rear axel, later models run half shafts (kinda like fwd ones) to the rear hubs, the springs are held in struts similar to the front, good thing is better handling and better camber adjustment ect with independent..... although super cars run the solid axel type

Rear IRS doesnt nessecarily have struts. Commodores are coils between the lower control arm and the body. Easiest way to tell is if the axles are skinny with rubber boots on them then it is IRS.
