Default vq statesman for $2500 5litre good buy?

ok the other day at work me and the old man spotted a white unregistered vq stato in the next door neighbours back yard and so the old man went over and asked the lady if it was for sale and she said yes you can have it for $2500 grand! its a 5litre and suposedly runs the story goes she said is that her brother damaged it while he was dd and the insurance wouldnt cover it but the only damage we can see is the rear pasenger side door its got a ding in it?? so after work tommorow we will go a have a good sus and if thats all then sweet thats what i will be driveing in 4 months when i get my licence back the only thing is it sounds to good to be true any thoughts?

i dunno man that's cheap. my mate's bro bought a 5 litre vq statesman for $1000, and it was running fine, no rust, etc. he thrashed it a few times, and ripped burnouts (i saw him do so) and the car was fine, didn't struggle or anything, so the motor was still alright. i think it was leaking power steering fluid and that was it. he kept it for about a month or 2, and sold it for about $4000. made a ncie $3000 out of that!

well it sux as im in the process of doing up my vl and have already bought half the turbo conversion and then this car pops up i mean the wreckers in brisbane are selling injected 5litres for $2500 and theres no box or diff with it and this is a whole car and a stato at that! well i cant afford 3 cars (sigh) gues i might sell the vs calias v6 and keep the vl turbo and the stato . By the way this cars in an upermarket area so maybe they just want it outa their yard as their yard is fairly small??

ok had a look today heres the bad news first! the stato has had a bad hit on the pasenger side diff!( mounted the curb sideways) and the wheel that came off the diff on that side was in pretty bad shape! looking closer they had put the spare from the boot on it and the spare tyre was slightly crooked meaning the diff arm would have to be replaced on that side! appart from that the irs looks ok and the control arm seems fine couldnt start the motor but will do so after work tommorow (no battery) and she had come down in price to $2000 but me and the old man reckon i could get it for $1500 and i figure if tommorow after i kick it over if it runs good then that aint to bad a deal any thoughts ??

well thinking about it now i spose i could do the stato up instead of the vl as the vl is only an executive and this is a 5litre statesman i guess i will sell the half turbo setup back on ebay and use the money from that to fix the vq damn it so many choices

well fellas didnt get a chance to start it after work (went home early the old man felt sic) but gave me a chance to ring around and get a few prices on suspension parts and heres goes
    drive shaft for diff $500
    iner hub $230
    outer hub $200
    1control arm $740 :0
    crossmember $2000
thats from holden so of course its going 2 b exspensive and i dont think i need a crossmember this is a worst case senario of how much it will cost to overhaul the entire IRS system oh and this is not includeing a new diff if the other ones to dammaged! but.... if its just the axel shat on the one side i can get out from under it for $1000 so in total 1 vq 5litre statesman for $2500 unregd still sound ok?? either way im going to put it through the grill tommorow and take some pics and post them so all can see the damage and then get some ideas??

yeah thats why im going to sus it heaps tommorow still.. for $1500 ive been thinking about droping the 5litre into the vl i have i wouldnt need the vq back end as i would only need a vl 5litre diff! personally id rather do up the stato more class! but if worst come to the worst for $1500 i can strip it and double my money
