In my gregories service guide on how to change the coolant, it sais to place three cooling system pellets (Part No 9214 0053) into the upper radiator hose. What on earth are they? Even google only had 3 unrelated results.

These pellets are part of a genuine coolant service kit. They are designed to stop any minute leaks in the system.
the pellets are actually crushed walnut shells, the bits flow around with the coolant chipping any buildup away from the back of the water pump seal helping to stop leaks.
